The Ada library mechanism is the to the construction of large systems since it provides security of the integration nxx ss. In Ada9X, library units may haveddld library units, so that an entire hierarchy can be built. Adding a child unit is established without textual change so that compilation costs are reduced compared with Ada 83. 

The primary unit must always be compiled and stored in the library before its associated secondary unit. A secondary unit cannot be compiled unless it has an associated primary unit. Design units are compiled into library units and stored in die working design library. A library unit may contain references to elements declared in other libraries. If these are not implicitly accessible, external library references must be attached to the unit.

Most mass spectrometers for analytical work have access to a large library of mass spectra of known compounds. These libraries are in a form that can be read immediately by a computer viz., the data corresponding to each spectrum have been compressed into digital form and stored permanently in memory. Each spectrum is stored as a list of m/z values for all peaks that are at least 5% of the height of the largest peak. To speed the search process, a much shorter version of the spectrum is normally examined (e.g., only one peak in every fourteen mass units).
