United States, continued Library

Crerar Library was established as a reference library, as opposed to a lending library, in science and technology. It was one of the first libraries in the United States to establish photocopying service in lieu of interlibrary loans. This service was first established in 1912 and has been available almost continuously since that date. For a period of years the service was available through the cooperation of a local copying service, but in recent years all such work has been done in the library s own photoduplication laboratory. Both photoprints and microfilm are available, under the principle of reimbursement to the library for the actual costs of the service. Details of the service are described in a brochure available on request from the library s Photoduplication Service. [Pg.299]
