Latin optimal

The word process is from Latin and defines many different aspects. The automation process relates to the automatic regulation required to control the physical conditions in a system. The term process relates to both the optimal conditions within which the operation is maintained and when the operation varies with time or by a predetermined plan. 

The introduced methods can be used in a value chain planning model. A model - derived from the Latin word modellus meaning measure - is a focused representation of reality focusing on problem-relevant aspects and their functional relations (Teich 2002, p. 219). The model applies reference, optimization, simulation and/or analysis and visualization methods to support decisions based on formulated requirements. 

In a companion paper (Kleijnen et al., 2003), we changed the metamodel in (1) after the screening phase, as follows. For those controllable factors found to be important by sequential bifurcation, we augmented (1) with quadratic effects to form a predictive model for optimization. For those environmental or noise factors identified by sequential bifurcation as important, we created environmental scenarios through Latin hypercube sampling for robustness analysis.

Due to the genetically diverse and polymorphous parasite, sensitivity of the prototype assay was assessed with various positive specimens from donors covering many regions of Latin Americas and southern US. 228 out of 228 specimens were detected as reactive or 100% sensitivity. Optimization to further improve the assay performance is in progress. The Abbott PRISM Chagas Assay is potentially a screening test to improve the safety of the blood supply by reducing the risk of T. cruzi transfusion. 

The approach in material development is to systematically perform statistically designed experiments. Orthomolecular therapy is the treatment of disease by the provision of the optimal molecular constitution of the body, especially the optimal concentration of substances that are normally present in the human body and are required for life. The adjective orthomolecular is used to express the idea of the right molecules in the right concentration. This word may be criticized as a Greek-Latin hybrid, but I have not thought of a better word. 

Quantum computational methods are mainly used in systems for which electronic properties are of interest, such as molecular orbitals. Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectra, and polarizability.
