Large Organisations

Inspection schedule It is not unusual for those who employ such firms to ask for an inspection schedule as suggested in (4) above, prior to making an appointment. Some large organisations lay down in general terms the numbers of inspectors and how they require the work to be inspected. However, the inspection schedule is not only the key to what may be expected from individual firms, it is also useful in summarising the inspector s duties and in informing the contractor as to how his work will be checked. [Pg.1157]

These data tell us that to be a successful player in the pesticide industry you must be a large organisation with the ability to invest a great deal of support into the discovery (in most cases), development, manufacture and marketing of your products. There are some organisations that have built their successful position on their ability to manufacture and formulate commodity products, those products that were discovered some years ago and whose patents have lapsed, thereby allowing organisations, other than the inventor to make, formulate and sell the product internationally. [Pg.3]

In order to perform the analysis correctly, the analyst needs to be given the appropriate information about the analysis required. In large organisations the person who deals with the client may be remote from the analyst who carries out the work. The test sheet is where the client s request has been recorded with sufficient detail for the analyst to perform the analysis. With the advent of laboratory information management systems (LIMS), this may be done using a computer rather than a paper based system. [Pg.65]

It seems to us, symbolic, important, and above all promising for the future, that the year in which Rhone-Poulenc holds its centenary celebrations also sees the publication of a scientific review, gathering together organic chemistry research carried out in common by groups from universities and other large organisations, and with Rhone-Poulenc research workers. [Pg.570]

Also, it must be added that the management of the large organisations, in particular the Management of the Chemical Sector of the CNRS, the Research Directors of our sectors as well as the group leaders of our Research Centres, have all contributed to this development through their encouragement and financial aid. [Pg.571]

Key personnel include the head of Production, the head of Quality Control, and if at least one of these persons is not responsible for the release of products the authorised person(s) designated for the purpose. Normally key posts should be occupied by full-time personnel. The heads of Production and Quality Control must be independent from each other. In large organisations, it may be necessary to delegate some of the functions listed in 2.5,26 and 27. [Pg.136]

Under such circumstances it is therefore not surprising that they are mainly the preserve of large organisations that have both the awareness and resources available to utilise them. Furthermore in such an unregulated environment those services that are available to smaller, less well-resourced clients may not themselves actually have the relevant occupational hygiene expertise to be able to advise on issues involving the measurement and control of chemical hazards and the use of OELs competently. ... [Pg.166]

While it is recognised that there is a continuing emphasis towards large, organised displays, in any free country the inhabitants have the freedom of choice between purchasing and lighting their own fireworks or leaving it to the professionals. It must be said that where fatalities do occur, they tend to be at the hands of private individuals who are... [Pg.97]

In large organisations it is common for a general-purpose document management system to be implemented - in most cases it makes sense for CRM materials to harness these tools. A document management systan will typically set out the strategy for ... [Pg.137]

Gas pipe systems are in most countries laid by relatively large companies. An exception is Germany where many gas supply companies are still relatively small, municipally operated companies. Gas companies are therefore often large organisations capable of... [Pg.54]

Providing for better interaction with consumers, this tool is particularly useful for large organisations that need to speak to the customer with one voice. ... [Pg.101]

Claims that a bureaucratic organisation offered benefits from cost reduction, precision, impersonality, inflexibility, etc., may owe more to the informal staff relationships and practices than to the organisation itself. However it must be recognised that elements of bureaucratic organisation can probably be found in parts of most medium and large organisations. [Pg.287]

The manufacturer must issue a test certificate for every crane he produces, identifying it and specifying the safe working load (SWL) which must be clearly marked on the crane structure. In large organisations which have their own system of plant identification it should relate to the manufacturer s... [Pg.586]

The discussion so far has concerned the various ways in which employers respond to compensation pressures, only some of which have anything to do with improving safety. But there are also circumstances which can render managers quite immune to these pressures, ruling out even the possibility of compensation costs generating safety improvements. The problem arises in large organisations and stems from the way in which compensation costs... [Pg.41]

In this chapter it has been argued that regulation represents a significant resource, not only for inspectorates but also for health and safety persotmel of all sorts working within large organisations. [Pg.92]
