Managers responsible for services within works, offices or premises have an additional task in that when engaging service contractors they then have joint responsibility under the Health and Safety at Work, etc. Act 1974 for the health and safety of the contractor s employees while on their premises. When engaging contractors to carry out work within the premises, systems must be implemented by which the contractor s employee works in a safe manner and does not create a hazard to the premises occupants or staff while carrying out this work. This responsibility is greater when there is an employee or service contractor working alone, as in most instances the premises communications do not allow for such circumstances (e.g. the lone employee may be working in remote areas such as plant rooms). [Pg.1069]

Thin to large wall Designing around TP problems is the joint responsibility of the product and mold designers. For example, one way to handle the problem of thin to large area walls is by the inclusion of long ribs into the product in the direction of plastic flow. These ribs are not a functional requirement of the product but they act as auxiliary runners attached to the product to facilitate plastic flow in difficult to fill areas. In some instances the ribs may be used as a surface decoration like a corrugation or they may be on the concealed side of the product where they are stiffeners. [Pg.278]

However, the extensive and varied experience undergone in Europe and its trend towards greater participation by the user in the financing of pharmaceuticals does not seem to have made any substantial contribution to cost containment. Practically all European countries use drag co-payment with the imphcit objective of making the user jointly responsible for the cost, but not as an essential source of revenue for the public health care system, nor has it proved to be a political instrument with the ability to contain costs or substantially improve efficiency. [Pg.141]

The pump and its driver shall perform on their test stands and on their permanent foundation within the acceptance criteria specified in 2.8.3. After installation, the performance of the combined units shall be the joint responsibility of the purchaser and the vendor. [Pg.20]

Under co-promotion arrangements whereby companies jointly promote the same medicine and the promotional material bears both company names, each company should certify the promotional material involved as they will he held jointly responsible for it under the Code. [Pg.753]

That actin and myosin are jointly responsible for contraction was demonstrated long before the fine structure of the myofibril became known. In about 1929, ATP was recognized as the energy source for muscle contraction, but it was not until 10 years later that Engelhardt and Ljubimowa showed that isolated myosin preparations catalyzed the hydrolysis of ATP.138 Szent-Gyorgi139 140 showed that a combination of the two proteins actin (discovered by F. Straub141) and myosin was required for Mg2+-stimulated ATP hydrolysis (ATPase activity). He called this combination actomyosin. [Pg.1104]

IgD is found on B lymphocytes during certain stages of maturation, and is jointly responsible for their activation. The serum concentration is low (0-0.04 mg/mL). [Pg.50]

The individual scientific reports delivered on such occasions should be considered as the foundation of such a meeting but not as its sole purpose. Project group meetings should be inspired by a joint responsibility for any success and failure. Everybody should be aware that the failure of other parts of the project influences the project as a whole and has direct implications on one s own success. The achievement of objectives within time must be acknowledged, particularly those which were accomplished at the expected time despite unexpected problems. [Pg.29]

The bonding situation determines the values of the force constants, and these constants are jointly responsible for the observed frequencies. Force constants are influenced much more by changes in the bonding than, for instance, by bond distances. However, frequencies also depend on the coupling situation, which is why it is advisable to be careful in drawing conclusions about the bonding from the frequencies. [Pg.229]

Establishing and implementing a project security system is a joint responsibility of all parties contractor, Project Manager, C.M.. and plant security. [Pg.192]

The sending and receiving labs are jointly responsible for issuing the final report relating to acceptability of the method transfer. [Pg.267]

New substances manufactured in the EC are notified by the manufacturer. Substances manufactured outside the EC can be notified by the EC importer, which may require a series of repeat notifications because there could be several importers. The trigger quantities for Level 1 and 2 testing would be based on the aggregated totals for all importers, with all notifiers jointly responsible for testing. Alternatively, a non-EC manufacturer is permitted to choose a sole EC representative to make one notification the manufacturer is to include all importers in all countries. The notifier can supply the notified new substance throughout the EC. [Pg.547]

The revised draft requirements for GMP are presented in three parts. Part One, "Quality management in the drug industry philosophy and essential elements", outlines the general concepts of quality assurance as well as the principal components or subsystems of GMP, which are joint responsibilities of the top management and of production and quality control management. These include hygiene, validation, self-inspection, personnel, premises, equipment, materials, and documentation. [Pg.18]

The production manager and quality control manager should share a joint responsibility to establish and to authorize written procedures, to monitor and control the manufacturing environment, plant cleanliness and production validation to calibrate measuring devices, to train personnel., to protect products and materials against spoilage and deterioration and to maintain records. [Pg.488]
