Outside manufacturers

Several terms here may need explanation as they are unusual outside manufacturing industry. 

For components or devices supplied hy outside manufacturers, usually the downward progression is stopped at the component level, unless the device is normally opened, repaired, calibrated, adjusted, or inspected hy in-house personnel. Electronic hlack boxes (similar to those under the hood of our automobiles) are good examples. We as owners may have occasion to manipulate the connection points (wires, attachment, and securing brackets), but we do not open nor usually attempt to diagnose an internal malfunction of these devices. For work on our automobile electronics black boxes, we turn to specially trained experts who use special equipment. 

Where circumstances require the use of outside manufacture, this fact should be stated in the batch record. 

In the event that the performance of a particular stage of the manufacturing process is entrusted to an outside contractor or takes place on the premises of a different organization, the conditions for production as set forth by this decree must be fulfilled. The outside manufacturer is mentioned in the production record of the particular batch. 

Reasonably early decision on the in-house vs. outside manufacturing choices, as the latter requires technology transfer and due diligence work, as well as the inevitably longer cycle for reaching the necessary technical and business agreements (more on this under VII below). 

There are various rules and regulations in every country for establishing and operating industries. They are aimed to ensure safety of personnel (inside as well as outside manufacturing premises) and plant machinery, minimising environmental pollution, etc. 

This framework or national ICE scheme is intended only for distribution incidents, such as those outside manufacturing sites, and is formalized in a Protocol between the National Chemical Industry Federation and the national competent authorities, such as police and fire brigades.

Not only were the products designed by others, more than 70% of products were produced by a large network of outside manufacturers (OEMs) despite an internal manufacturing capability. 

As a result of our recent visit to Edgewood Arsenal, I am not favorably impressed with the idea of rehabilitating the Chemical Warfare manufacturing plant. It would seem advisable to have more manufacturing work done by commercial plants and utilize funds to become available for the Edgewood Arsenal for experimental and developmental projects. The question of secrecy in manufacturing processes may have some effect on outside manufacture but should not prevent it. ... 

In SOs-sulfation, the gas may be delivered by an outside manufacturer in tank cars, is produced in-house by stripping from oleum, or is generated close to the sulfation unit by burning sulfur and oxidizing of the SO2 to SO3 by air with vanadium oxide as catalyst. The latter is the preferred method in modem plants. The SO3 is diluted with dry air to reduce reactivity. Falling film and cascade reactors are used to carry out s. Temperature control and adequate feed transport that respect the changes in viscosity during the process are the key criteria for these processes and for product quality (color). 

In most cases the sample bottle has a wide mouth, making it easy to fill and remove the sample. A narrow-mouth sample bottle is used when exposing the sample to the container cap or to the outside environment is undesirable. Unless exposure to plastic is a problem, caps for sample bottles are manufactured from polyethylene. When polyethylene must be avoided, the container cap includes an inert interior liner of neoprene or Teflon. 

Although there is a substantial body of information in the pubHc domain concerning the preparation of polyacetals, the details of processes for manufacturiag acetal resins are kept highly confidential by the companies that practice them. Nevertheless, enough information is available that reasonably accurate overviews can be surmised. Manufacture of both homopolymer and copolymer involves critical monomer purification operations, discussion of which is outside the scope of this article (see Formaldehyde). Homopolymer and copolymer are manufactured by substantially different processes for accomplishing substantially different polymerisation chemistries. 

A commercial design based on semicontinuous operation was developed for manufacture of silicate powders (27). A slurry, prepared containing the feed materials and water, is fed to the reactor tank and heated by circulating a heat-exchange fluid in channels located on the outside vessel wall. A six-bladed stirrer is operated at about 100 rpm in order to keep reagents well mixed. Once the slurry reaches the operating temperature, the vessel heat is maintained until reaction is complete. For most fine-particle products, this time is less than 1 hr. 

Additionally, attempts are being made to streamline the gravure process by improving make-ready times. Press manufacturers Cemtti and Albert-Frankenthal are working on cassette systems where jobs are prepared outside the press and subsequently loaded with virtually 2ero stop time. Computer control of press functions such as compensators, angle bars, and folders also help reduce press make-ready time.
