Job safety programs

This chapter will discuss the safe work procedures needed to ensure that employees are properly trained on the safety requirements of their task and able to demonstrate this knowledge and performance in their every day duties. Finally, this is observed by management to provide encouragement, training, and corrective action as appropriate. [Pg.13]

Four techniques will be discussed to help with these problems. They are Job Safety Analysis, Job Safety Training, Knowledge Reviews, and Work Observations. [Pg.13]

Accident Any unplanned event that results in personal injury or property damage. Hazard Any condition that may result in the occurrence of, or contribution to an accident. [Pg.13]

Knowing the hazards of a job is very important. Chapter 3 on Job Safety Programs will aid in addressing job (workers ) safety. Adequate resources are fundamental to any project, but even more so to a well-functioning health and safety program. Employees injured off the job may, with the assistance of unscrupulous lawyers, sometimes claim the injury occurred during work time. Overall, the assessor s job is to ensure that management systems are in place, that they are effective, and they are being followed. Rather than checking on the details of the safety program, the assessor will evaluate management systems and their effectiveness. [Pg.109]

The chart shows a remarkable drop in the incident rate as the number of unplanned jobs goes down. (It could also be that those companies that are well organized have both better maintenance planning and good safety programs—they both share the same cause.)... [Pg.164]
