International community, support

Why have international solutions been so different for Kosovo than for South Ossetia and Akbhazia In other words, why has the international community supported independence for Kosovo, while failing to extend the same level of support to South Ossetia and Abkhazia The answer lies in the great powers rule and its application to the conflicts in the Caucasus. [Pg.152]

Both the national and international communities should support pharmaeopeial harmonization. There should be support both for harmonization of exeipients and for harmonization of eommon general tests and assays. In doing so, meaningful standards should be preferred, not the lowest common denominator or the most stringent. This statement at the International Conference on Harmonization 1 was entirely consistent with the eoneept of forward harmonization. [Pg.74]

Because implementation of the whole project will take several years, all the related activities should be included into a list of top-priority works since the hazard of further afloat storage of the damaged NSs increases every year. It is also obvious that under the present-day level of the project financing from the Russian Budget funds, its implementation would last for many years. Thus the project support by the whole international community and by individual countries, especially in the Pacific region, would considerably contribute to acceleration of the resolution of this topical problem. [Pg.384]

Most experimental chemists in Germany in those times did not believe that quantum theory beyond the simple Hiickel model had any use for chemistry in the foreseeable future." " So quantum chemistry had to get its main support from the more optimistic international community. Per-Olov Low-din s summer schools held in Uppsala (Sweden) were instrumental in getting young researchers interested in quantum molecular science. Since these schools... [Pg.269]

Poland signed the Climate Convention on 26 July 1994 and ratified the Kyoto Protocol on 13 December 2002, making the commitment to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 6% within the period 2008-2012 compared to the 1988 emissions. These decisions were taken in Poland after a lot of hesitation and discussions, which often expressed fears as to whether the policy of reducing CO2 emission would impose too much burden on Poland, because of the heavy domination of coal in its fuel consumption. Many concerns were expressed regarding the introduction of a coal tax , which at that time was expected to be the most realistic instrument of coal emission control. However, the political will to support the efforts of the international community on climate protection prevailed. [Pg.301]

The Board continues to invest significant resources in these initiatives, as requested by the international community, in particular by acting as a focal point for the exchange of information. It has also consistently urged national authorities to make available appropriate resources to support these operational activities. The new combined operations will give further impetus to precursor control and, at the same time, place more responsibilities on competent authorities, for example for launching law enforcement investigations. [Pg.83]

A specific work package (WP4) has been assigned to the creation of the web-site because the web-site is a key system to work and communicate with partners and a valid instrument for a broad and timely passive dissemination of activities. Therefore, WP4 expertise will be required to address technicalities related to scientific issues, including judgement about data structure and database organisation. Moreover, experts in WP4 advised on the best way for circulating and using forms for data collection. WP4 maintains the electronic NMS and ACC network, and support dissemination outside the project. The web-site offers a restricted area for project s participants for internal communication and circulation of documents. [Pg.243]

The United Nations system, as well as the international community, was called upon to support the objectives of the Agenda ... [Pg.60]

To support this nuclear material safety effort, the DOE has begun to develop a strategic plan that would allow us to allocate resources and work together with you and the international community to design approaches to address nuclear material safety issues. The capabilities and talents currently supporting our cooperative nuclear reactor safety activities, in combination with our growing cooperation within the weapons complex, provide the experience to point the way and provide the basis for successful implementation of a major nuclear materials safety initiative. [Pg.13]

Venkateshwaran 2008). Software solutions are also used for analysis, simulation, and communication (Radhakrishnan and Subramanyan 2007). Intranet applications, for example, support internal communication, improve knowledge transfer throughout the organization, and thereby improve quality and avoid inefficient loops. [Pg.274]

When Russia forcibly re-incorporated Chechnya some years later, the international community condemned the excessive brutality of the venture and human rights abuses. But there was little or no support for the suggestion that Chechnya had a claim to... [Pg.57]
