International Chemical Union conference

Immediately after posting the letter Haber traveled to a conference of the International Chemical Union in Santander, on the northern coast of Spain. Einstein s dismissive reply reached him there. I m especially glad. .. that your earlier love for the blond beast has cooled off a bit. Who would have thought that my dear Haber would appear before me as an advocate of the Jewish— and even Palestine s—cause Einstein refused Haber s appeal to meet with Weizmann he had no desire to listen to more of the old fox s lies. He hoped Haber never would return to Germany, where the intellectual class is made up of men who lie on their bellies before common criminals, and even sympathize with those... [Pg.229]

The organizing committee extends a cordial invitation to participate in International conference on Analytical Chemistry and Chemical Analysis (AC CA-05) which is hold in scenic city of Kyiv, Ukraine, from. Septemher 12 to 18,2005. Tills conference belongs to die series of Ukrainian conferences in analytical chemistry established in 1970 by Ukrainian chemical society and chemical division of Ukrainian Academy of. Sciences. AC CA-05 is a 7 conference in analytical chemistry in Ukraine and it is dedicated to the centenary of the birth of the outstanding Ukrainian scientist, Anatoly K. Babko for his expertise in analytical chemistry and in the chemistry of complex compounds. Tlie current conference is organised by Analytical Scientific Council at Academy of Sciences of Ukraine under collaboration with European Association for Chemical and Molecular Sciences (EuClicMS) and sponsored by Intemational Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (lUPAC) and by the Intemational Association for the Promotion of Co-operation with Scientists from the New Independent States of the Eormer Soviet Union (INTAS). [Pg.3]

This book contains a selection of chapter topics based on papers given at the 12th conference of the Commission on Charge, Spin and Momentum Density of the International Union for Crystallography, held in Waskiesiu, Prince Albert National Park, SK, Canada, July 27-August 1, 1997. The choice of topics represents some of the latest advances in the field of electron, spin, and momemtum densities and the analysis of these densities with respect to their roles in determining chemical reactivity. [Pg.10]

In 1946 he undertook an extensive tour in the United States of America and Canada in the course of which he attended the Starch Round Table at Estes Park, Colorado, and lectured to the American Chemical Society. He particularly enjoyed this tour which enabled him to renew personal contact with C. S. Hudson whom he had first met at the tenth Conference of the International Union of Chemistry at Li ge in 1930, and whose friendship he greatly valued. Two years later, in 1948, he reached the age of sixty-five and, although still at the height of his powers, he retired from the Chair at Birmingham that he had held with such distinction for twenty-three years. The severance from Binning-... [Pg.3]

The Geneva conference of 1892 initiated chemical nomenclature work on an international scale, and this was later continued under the auspices of the International Union of Chemistry but was interrupted and severely hampered by two world wars and their depressing influence on international cooperation and confidence. Nevertheless the International Union of Chemistry succeeded in accomplishing nomenclature work which has already exercised a far-reaching influence on chemical literature. [Pg.38]

It is generally agreed that the community of practising chemists and their professional societies played an important positive role in the negotiation of the Chemical Weapons Convention. This positive role has continued, with the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) making a major contribution on scientific developments for the 2003 First Review Conference of the CWC. More recently, IUPAC had joined with the OPCW in its efforts to develop new educational aids to inform the profession of the importance of the CWC. [Pg.162]
