Perhaps the oldest and most widely used instrument is the Pynoos version of the PTSD Reaction Index. This semistructured interview instrument is also useful for making a categorical diagnosis of PTSD and has been used in a variety of studies, including those on natural disasters, criminal assault, and war trauma (Pynoos and Nader, 1987 Pynoos, 1994). It is a 20-item Likert-scale instrument that is straightforward, can be used as a self-report instrument in addition to its use as a structured interview, is time efficient, and provides useful cutoff scores for severity. 

The General Oral Health Assessment Index (GOHAI) (Atchison, 1997 Tubert-Jeannin et al., 2003). This 12-item questionnaire measures self-report oral functional problems together with the psychosocial impacts associated with oral disease. The maximum score is 60. A score of 57-60 corresponds to a good oral quality of life, while a score of 50 or less reflects a poor oral quality of life. 

In the context of an iterative design cycle (as advocated in BS/EN/ISO 11064-1 2001), additional strategies can be deployed to provide feedback of a sociotechnical or affective nature into the design process. Hnman factors best practice in this regard centers around various self-report questionnaire methods, administered to individuals who have had an opportunity to use the system in the context of trials, simulations, or other phased delivery methods. Nnmerous job satisfaction questionnaires exist and have been widely applied, from the Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire (with up to 100 questions see Weiss et al., 1967) to the Job Descriptive Index (requiring simple yes/no answers see Smith, Kendall, and Hulin, 1969). A concept called cohesion (Siebold and Kelly, 1988) also maps well onto the core job characteristics mentioned earlier. 

The results of self-reported symptoms, prevails in the lumbar area (86.0%), dorsal region (82.6%), neck (66.3%), shoulders (64.0%) and wrist/hands (61.0%). As for work-related absenteeism it prevailed the shoulder region (8.1%) and the intensity index very intense (30.2%) in the lumbar region. 

Four final year male students of a physiotherapy graduation course were recruited. Participant age (25.25 + 2.06 years), weight and height were collected and body mass index was calculated (22.13 + 1.43 kg/m ). The volunteers were healthy and were screened to exclude history of pathology. No cardiovascular, neurological, metabolic or musculoskeletal diseases and no medication affecting these systems were self-reported. The retention index has become the standard method for reporting GC data. By definition, the members of any homologous series should differ from each other by 100 units just as the standards do. This relationship is not always exact,2 and the index is somewhat temperature dependent.3 Nevertheless, it is very popular, and McReynolds4 has published a self-consistent book of indices for 350 compounds on 77 stationary phases and at 2 temperatures. Other homologous series have also been used as standards in specific industries.
