Full-Text Index for the Submission. You should provide an index of the full text and the Document Information fields of all items in the submission. The index is generated in PDF by using Acrobat Catalog. Name the index definition file indindex.pdx. You should place all associated index hies in a folder named indindex. Place the indindex.pdx definition hie and the indindex folder in the IND main folder. Associate the XXXX indtoc.pdf Ie with the index hie so that, whenever the TOC hie is opened, the associated index is automatically added to the available index list. This will facilitate the use of the search function in Adobe Acrobat. The function enables a reviewer to enter a specihc word and search the document for that word s location throughout the documents covered by the indices loaded at the time. The indindex folder and hie do not have numerical prehxes because they are intended to be cumulative. Index information should be updated each time an amendment is submitted to the IND.

Most of the indexed information originates in advertisements to hire chemists or to sell goods or services. The latter ads make it clear that their sponsors employ organic chemists as discovery or development researchers. For example, a commercial offer to make C-labeled drugs for metabolism studies requires synthetic chemists trained in handling radioactive compounds. 

Readings of Nature and The Scientist provided some of the data related here, as did Canadian Chemical News. TWo periodicals alone—Chemical and Engineering News and Science— furnished most of the indexed information. 

The properties of this scattering pattern have been studied extensively in an effort to extract size, sphericity, velocity and refractive index information about the particle (Roth et al. 1992, Roth et al. 1996, Marston 1980). Two concepts for implementation have been successfully demonstrated. One uses a line detector to capture the intensity pattern directly, and has been combined with a conventional PDA for size and velocity information (Sankar et al. 1996). The second uses a single photomultiplier and yields also particle velocity directly (van Beeck and Riethmuller 1996 b)). The main application to date is for the in-situ determination of fuel droplet size and temperature, however further development work is necessary before this technique can be routinely used. 

Some measurement techniques also require physical characteristics, such as density and refractive index. Kor example, refractive-index information is usually needed for methods based on light scattering, but densities are generally required for those based on sedimentation, Often, assumptions are made about these quantities unless measured values are available. These assumptions can again lead to discrepancies in measured particle sizes.
