Identification List

California Air Resources Board, Toxic Air Contaminant Identification List Summaries, September, 1997b. [Pg.933]

The U.S. EPA is charged with addressing air pollution under the Clean Air Act. The poor air quality found in California has led the state of California to establish the California Air Resources Board (ARB), which also addresses this subject. EPA has established a list of hazardous air pollutants anci ARB has established a Toxic Air Contaminant (TAC) Identification List. 4 Numerous other literature references identify still other known air pollutants. Table 7.1, toxic chemicals in the air, which was compiled from these sources, shows the range of pervasive toxic chemicals that are found in the air we breathe. [Pg.64]

Another way of identifying a specimen is to look it up in Identification-lists belonging to a flora or a revision, where a duplicate of the specimen may have been cited. Provided that no different species got mixed up under the same collecting number, you have found the name. This sort of identification is determination by means of verification of extensionally defined membership, the duplicate in your hands, e.g. collected by C.A. Backer under number 18132, belongs according by the list by Bosnian fi de Haas ( 1983. Blumea 28, 483) to species nr. 7, corresponding with Tephrosia luzonensis. The set of specimens these authors have studied and listed in this identification list forms thus the extensionally defined set of specimens. [Pg.77]

The subfile made up of the cross reference cards mentioned urder 9 may be used again in other revisions, so it is advocated to use a good quality of paper or thin cardboard for them. This subfile can became very useful when you add additional notes on the collectors, such as lists of their collecting localities with coordinates and/or maps, identification lists of their specimens, whereabouts of the specimens, etc. Some people do not regard this as a subfile at all but as an very special and important file for this information to be used over and over again. [Pg.149]

The practice of citing collections made in institutional series by the letters of that series instead of by the collector s name (e.g. PB 23435 instead of Aquilar Valderrama FB 23435) led, with the publication of so many Identification Lists, to the dishing out of an alphabet soup that many a botanist or curator of collections may find hard to digest. [Pg.158]

The capillary column pyrogram shown in Figure 7.1 and the peak identification list shown in Table 7.1, from the analysis of ICM that had not been sorted by particle size, demonstrate the immense power of this analytical technique. A 0.5-mg sample of ICM containing only a fraction of that amount of organic material (perhaps about 25 p.g) was separated into 134 GC peaks, about 90 of which were presumptively identified (that is, by comparison of the unknown spectra to computer library spectra of known ccmpounds). Py-GC/MS analysis of ICM that was size-sorted into four size fractions (<0.6, 0.6 to 2.7, 2.7 to 10.4, and >10.4 pm) showed pyrograms of composition similar to that of the unsorted material. [Pg.136]

Technical file. The manufacturer s technical documentation file supports the CE marking. The contents of a technical file generally include the declaration of conformity, name and address of manufacturer, product description and identification, list of standards and directives applied, design and schematic drawings, calculations, test reports, parts lists, manuals, and so on. Technical files must be readily available and may be requested by enforcement authorities for inspection purposes should a product become suspect or an incident occur. [Pg.139]

Some of the identifications listed in Table II for peaks from HI to M are tentative but many of these compounds are not well separated from one another resulting in overlapping mass spectra. All of die compounds display characteristics of the oleanane or ursane series. Several peaks, including those... [Pg.95]

The El spectra of steroids provided an early example of the utility of mass spectrometry in structural elucidation. The CAD spectra (obtained by tandem MS/MS techniques) of various steroids have now been investigated and yield additional structural information (38—41). Items 1,2 and 4 in the positive features of structural identification listed above provided information which could be used to distinguish between epimeric structures and to identify constant structural features in different steroids. [Pg.117]
