Developments in experimental and mathematical techniques in the 1970s have initiated an interest in the development of better laboratory reactors for catal5d ic studies. Besides the many publications on new reactors for general or special tasks, quite a few review articles have been published on the general subject of laboratory reactors for catalytic studies.

It cannot be solved for the required values in closed form. The potential of electroanalytical techniques such as cyclic voltammetry and impedance spectroscopy is also not fully explored in photocatalyt-ic studies which is primarily used for the rapid screening and high throughput evaluation of photocatalysts. The principal techniques for determining the microstmcture of phenoHc resins include mass spectroscopy, proton, and C-nmr spectroscopy, as well as gc, Ic, and gpc. The softening and curing processes of phenoHc resins are effectively studied by using thermal and mechanical techniques, such as tga, dsc, and dynamic mechanical analysis (dma). Infrared (ir) and electron spectroscopy are also employed. 

Gas chromatography (gc) is inferior to hplc in separating abiUty. With gc, it is better to use capillary columns and the appHcation is then limited to analysis (67). Resolution by thin layer chromatography or dc is similar to Ic, and chiral stationary phases developed for Ic can be used. However, tic has not been studied as extensively as Ic and gc. Chiral plates for analysis and preparation of micro quantities have been developed (68). 

It is becoming more and more desirable for the analytical chemist to move away from the laboratory and iato the field via ia-field instmments and remote, poiat of use, measurements. As a result, process analytical chemistry has undergone an offensive thmst ia regard to problem solviag capabihty (77—79). In situ analysis enables the study of key process parameters for the purpose of definition and subsequent optimization. On-line analysis capabihty has already been extended to gc, Ic, ms, and ftir techniques as well as to icp-emission spectroscopy, flow iajection analysis, and near iafrared spectrophotometry (80). 

Methylpyrazole has been investigated as a possible treatment for alcoholism. The stmcture—activity relationship (SAR) associated with a series of pyrazoles has been examined ia a 1992 study (51). These compounds were designed as nonprostanoid prostacyclin mimetics to inhibit human platelet aggregation. In this study, 3,4,5-triphenylpyrazole was linked to a number of alkanoic acids, esters, and amides. From the many compounds synthesized, triphenyl-IJT-pyrazole-l-nonanoic acid (80) was found to be the most efficacious candidate (IC g = 0.4 //M).
