Synthesized compounds

Perhaps the most common type of problem encountered in the analytical lab is a quantitative analysis. Examples of typical quantitative analyses include the elemental analysis of a newly synthesized compound, measuring the concentration of glucose in blood, or determining the difference between the bulk and surface concentrations of Cr in steel. Much of the analytical work in clinical, pharmaceutical, environmental, and industrial labs involves developing new methods for determining the concentration of targeted species in complex samples. Most of the examples in this text come from the area of quantitative analysis. [Pg.9]

Metallomesogens. It is also possible to synthesize compounds based on metal atoms which possess Hquid crystal phases. The series based on dithiolene complexes (1), where M = Ni, Pd, or Pt, contains a number of compounds which show the Hquid crystal phases typical of rod-like molecules (13,14). [Pg.196]

Related to the crown ethers are compounds, such as hexamethyl-[14]-4,ll-diene (6), which differ by the replacement of one or more of the oxygen atoms by other kinds of donor atoms, particularly N or S. MacrocycHc amine and thioether compounds have been synthesized. Compounds having more than one kind of heteroatom in the ring are called mixed-donor macrocycles. The naturally occurring metaboUtes nonactin [6833-84-7] and monactin [7182-54-9] have both ether and ester groups incorporated in the macrocyclic stmcture. [Pg.382]

Recognizing that there is presentiy a need for property values for tens of thousands of substances, but experimental data for only a small percentage of these substances, group contribution methods are viewed as the only choices for many problems such as newly or yet-to-be-synthesized compounds, situations where available data are well outside the conditions of interest, and reaction kinetics studies involving unknown intermediates. [Pg.249]

Effective precipitators are relatively weak acids, such as Co2+, Ni2+, Cu2+, Zn2+ etc. Such precipitators were ranked by Pirson to form a contiguous group of cations [65]. However, in order to synthesize compounds of either Mn(TaF6)2 or Mn(NbF6)2 type, it is necessary either to use cations with a higher acidity or anhydrous hydrogen fluoride, HF [64]. [Pg.20]

A combustion analysis was carried out on 1.621 g of a newly synthesized compound, which was known to contain only C, H, and O. The masses of water and carbon dioxide produced were 1.902 g and 3.095 g, respectively. What is the empirical formula of the compound ... [Pg.121]

Strategies for synthesizing compounds containing clusters of Cu or Ag and transition metals are available. ... [Pg.529]

Synthetic food colorants are chemically synthesized compounds that have a large variety of structures. The structures (Figure 7.3.1) and main properties of some of these pigments are presented below. Depending on their structural characteristics, synthetic pigments used as food colorants can be classified as follows ... [Pg.605]

Treatment of 41b with bromocyanide (BrCN) at 70 °C for 3 h afforded the amino compound 53 (76%). The structures of all the newly synthesized compounds were confirmed by the H, NMR, and mass spectra. Compounds 55 and 52 were identified by the homo- and heteronuclear spectra, as well as from comparison to the 1,2,4-triazolo-azipene derivatives prepared previously [22] (Scheme 10). [Pg.140]

For programs where the primary assay is a binding type assay, it is important to continue to evaluate the functional response of newly synthesized compounds. Changes in functional potency should correlate with changes in binding potency. Other parameters that may need to be tracked are efficacy and agonism vs antagonism. [Pg.184]

Using a new tripodal ligand, Sorrell and co-workers synthesized compound (61).83 The dioxygen reactivity of the pseudotetrahedral complex of this ligand of composition [(L)Cu(MeCN)][BF4] (not structurally characterized) was examined. In MeOH at —78 °C, the thermal decomposition of the side-on peroxodicopper(II) adduct in the presence of water yields a bis(hydroxide)-bridged... [Pg.758]

Bertrand and co-workers synthesized compound 310 in good yield (90%) by the treatment of a toluene solution of 311 with BiCls at — 78 °C. The coordination geometry around the bismuth center was found to be nearly trigonal bipyr-amidal. The reactivity of compound 310 toward various Lewis acids was studied. Transmetallation occurs with both... [Pg.563]

A methodology described previously (Equation 11) has been successfully used to synthesize compounds 67 by intermolecular cyclization of acyclic tetraamine 137 with a-dicarbonyl reagents. This one-pot preparation furnishes... [Pg.1024]
