Hypersensitivity INDEX

Relatively non-specific T cell immunosuppression has been successful in animal models. Treatment of hypersensitivity pneumonitis in mice with cyclosporin A led to improvement of the disease as seen by an abrogation of the increase in lung index, lack of IL-1 and TNFa release in BAL (Denis etal., 1992). However, this drug has not proven to be useful in clinical lung fibrosis in humans.

Drug administration route Tissue necrosis has been described in three cases of intravenous administration of promethazine, which is not recommended in two cases the complications were extensive—one patient needed an amputation of a thumb and index finger because of gangrene and the other developed chronic pain and hypersensitivity [17 ]. Other cases have been reported [18, 19 ], as have cases of accidental intra-arterial administration [20, 21, 22" ]. 

This process includes dietary, anthropometric, and biochemical aspects. Nutritional assessment begins with a detailed nutritional history that includes clinical, dietary, socioeconomic, and family issues. Areas of interest include present and past illnesses, family illness history, food allergies or intolerance, medications, nutritional supplements, over-the-counter medications, alcohol use, work environment, and education level. A useful standardized protocol is the Prognostic Nutritional Index (PNI), which incorporates serum albumin, serum transferrin, delayed skin hypersensitivity, and triceps skinfold thickness (20,21). The PNI has been shown to correlate with postoperative complications and mortality (22). Whole body functional assessment by examining overall activity, exercise tolerance, grip strength, respiratory function, wound healing, and plasma albumin concentration can also be useful.

The fact that the Xed factor is not absorbed in the Qx intensity parameters has the disadvantage that the dependence of the spectral intensities on the refractive index is not reflected in these parameters. A higher refractive index results in more intense transitions. This is especially true for hypersensitive transitions (see sect. 8). Because of this disadvantage, one has to be cautious when comparing 2x intensity parameters (see also sect. 9). Two systems with the same parameter set show different oscillator strengths if there is a difference in the refractive index of the media.
