Aldstadt et al. described the determination of U in groundwater using a FI system with a TRU-Resin column coupled on-line to an ICP-MS. The system used three 2-position valves and a flow-reversal scheme to load the sample in one direction and elute in the reverse direction. The system provided an enrichment factor on the order of 30-fold compared to direct groundwater analysis. Separate elution of Pu and Th in a group prior to eluting U was also discussed. [Pg.540]

The SW-846 methods are used in the RCRA compliance and monitoring programs for hazardous waste and stack gas characterization, groundwater monitoring, soil, surface water, and groundwater analysis during site investigation and remediation. Many laboratories adopted the SW-846 technical provisions as standards for routine operations. The fact that many of the SW-846 methods do not specify the acceptance criteria for analytical accuracy and precision and allow laboratories to use their own makes these methods even more attractive to the laboratories. [Pg.57]

Oxygen isotope ratios The use of oxygen isotope ratios is largely restricted to the measurement of water in fruit juices. Water in fruit is assimilated from groundwater and reflects the isotope ratios present in it variations between juices are therefore naturally derived from variations in the groundwater. Analysis for carbon and oxygen isotopes is carried out using mass spectrometry however, analysis is not simple. [Pg.1591]

A number of methods can be employed to monitor remedial progress, including the use of monitoring wells, groundwater analysis, and effluent vapor analysis. Selected case studies are summarized in Table 14.1 and in this section to provide information on expected contaminant removal using air sparging systems. [Pg.314]
