Global models

The generic model is a translation of the behavioral representation of the system. [Pg.189]

The state of good working order is a secure system state. The state undetected failure is the state where one of the two channels has a latent nndetected failnre. The failure may be detected by three different mechanisms. Depending on the snb-system, the detection means vary. After the failnre is detected, the action phase seeks to remedy the failure. Depending on the sub-system and the type of failure, the sub-system is put into a degraded state or a fallback state. The nnsecure state is a state in which the two channels each have an undetected failme. [Pg.189]

The transition rates are the values of transition from one system state to another  [Pg.190]

The MCCS elements follow an exponential probability law, that is to say that each element / has a failure rate K, the probability of failure of the element i is  [Pg.190]

To assess the probability of the system being in a state of good working order Ei (knowing that i 1,2,3 ), this amounts to studying the Markov chain in a symptotic regime (permanent regime). [Pg.191]

Fig. 3 Temperature changes (top) and precipitation changes (middle) in Europe and the Mediterranean, from the simulations performed by 21 global models, for the AIB scenario. Values are differences between 2080-2099 and 1980-1999. Left column, annual mean middle column, winter mean right column, summer mean. An assessment of the uncertainty of precipitation changes is given in the bottom row, by indicating the number of models that give the same sign of change. Taken from Christensen et al. [4]... Equation (10.29) is the appropriate reaction rate to use in global models such as Equation (10.1). The reaction rate would be —ka if there were no mass transfer resistance. The effectiveness factor rj accounts for pore diffusion and him resistance so that the effective rate is — 7ka. [Pg.367]

Although three different models were already proposed to explain the mechanism of adenylylsulfate reduction (141-143), a global model (taking in account the spectroscopic features discussed earlier) was not yet presented. In particular, the role of center II is still unknown. [Pg.385]

A complete or global tissue distribution model consists of individual tissue compartments connected by the blood circulation. In any global model, individual tissues may be blood flow-limited, membrane-limited, or more complicated structures. The venous and arterial blood circulations can be connected in a number of ways depending on whether separate venous and arterial blood compartments are used or whether right and left heart compartments are separated. The two most common methods are illustrated in Figure 3 for blood flow-limited tissue compartments. The associated mass balance equations for Figure 3A are... [Pg.83]

Working within a similar scheme, DeBecker and West introduced a treatment of feature scale effects on the overall current distribution which they call the hierarchical model [138]. Rather than represent the features as a smoothly varying density of active area, they retain the features, but simplify their representation in the global model. An integral current for each feature is assigned to the geometric center of the feature to provide a simplified boundary condition for the secondary current distribution. This boundary condition captures a part of the ohmic penalty paid when current lines converge onto features. It thus contains more information than the active area approximation but still less than a fully matched current distribution on the two levels. [Pg.184]

The distribution of SOC with depth is attributed mainly to continuous input and decomposition of soil organic matter (SOM), and correlates directly with soil development and SOM turnover (Chen et al. 2005). Regional, continental or global models are useful to understand SOM dynamics according to land use changes and management practices (Cole et al. [Pg.234]

Global models are focused mainly on global network design, transfer price and tax optimization on a more strategic level. [Pg.127]

Global models target to support strategic invest decisions and consequently follow also the requirements of value planning to have actual costs and turnover as decision basis as it is done in classical investment calculation including taxes... [Pg.127]

Concluding, the areas mostly impacted by the global scope such as global material flow planning and multi-period transport and transit inventory planning are covered best by global models (s. table 15). [Pg.127]

Unless two profiles are compared with a single observation or a summarizing index, the comparison involves a set of metrics these may be specific observation points such as Fw, F2q, and F3Q, fitted function parameters such as a and [> of a Weibull distribution, or estimated semi-invariants AUC, MDT, and VDT. In this situation, each metric can be compared separately, resulting in a manifold of independent local comparisons alternatively, all relevant metrics may be summarized in a common global model by means of multi-variate techniques (16). [Pg.274]
