Global climate models carbon cycle

It is clear that the carbon cycle and global climate are linked in many ways throughout the history of the Earth. But it is equally apparent that the complex interactions evident in the geologic record defy simple attribution of cause and effect. Collection of more data and further analysis and modeling will continue to improve our understanding of these interactions, which are now so important to the near-term relationship between human activities and the global environment. 

There is a need for a new class of SOC data, collected globally in a consistent fashion, which allows the direct comparison of results across a wide range of climatic conditions, which can be better integrated with remote-sensed vegetation indices, and which is more amenable to the validation of models of global carbon cycle dynamics and SOC dynamics.
