Glass-fiber-reinforced pipe

VE resins are utilized in applications with aggressive media, e. g., large glass fiber reinforced pipes for gas ducts in flue gas desulphurizing plants, as well as scrubbers, cooling towers, ovens, piping, and boat construction. Also storage tanks, heat... [Pg.41]

Creep pressure tests with glass fiber reinforced pipe according to DIN 53768 confirm the linear curve in a double logarithmic plot, but also the problematic tendency to infinitely high values at short times in a double-linear plot, Figure 6.8 [1014]. [Pg.893]

In the gas cleaning sections of spent acid or metaUurgical sulfuric acid plants, the weak acid scmbbing circuit is typicaUy handled by plastic or glass fiber reinforced plastic (ERP) pipe. The contaminants in weak acid usuaUy vary too greatly to aUow use of an economical aUoy. [Pg.188]

The avadabihty of PMDI also led to the development of polyurethane-modified isocyanurate (PUIR) foams by 1967. The PUIR foams have superior thermal stabiUty and combustibiUty characteristics, which extend the use temperature of insulation foams well above 150°C. The PUIR foams are used in pipe, vessel, and solar panel insulation glass-fiber-reinforced PUIR roofing panels having superior dimensional stabiUty have also been developed. More recently, inexpensive polyester polyols based on residues obtained in the production of dimethyl terephthalate (DMT) have been used in the formulation of rigid polyurethane and PUIR foams. [Pg.342]

Uses. About 60% of the MA produced is used to make unsaturated polyester and aikyd resins, which are formed by reaction of MA with glycols. Polyester resins are used in the fabrication of glass fiber reinforced parts. Applications include boat hulls, automobile body parts, patio furniture, shower stalls, and pipe. Aikyd resins are mostly used in coatings (paint, varnish, lacquers, and enamels). MA also is widely used as a chemical intermediate in the manufacture of plasticizers and dibasic acids (fumaric, maleic, and succinic). About 15% of MA production goes into the manufacture of viscosity index improvers and dispersants used as additives in lube oils. Several agricultural chemicals are based on maleic anhydride, the best known being Malathion. [Pg.298]

The damage process is accompanied by numerous microvoids, the development of which has been utilized for waterproof and/or breathable films. Other interesting segments are fibers, glass-fiber reinforced PP, thermo-formable grades and piping systems. [Pg.99]

For some apphcations a low thermal expansion coefficient is required and pipes are produced with glass fiber reinforcement which also increases the heat deflection temperature. [Pg.804]

Glass fiber-reinforced polymer (GRP) pipe is used for the transport of water and wastewater in pressure and non-pressure systems. This composite is composed of glass fiber and PP, PE, or PVC resins. These pipes are lightweight, corrosion resistant, and straightforward to install and have a long and effective service life and low maintenance costs. These features make GFR POCs, a strong candidate for piping applications in environments with acidic soil [51]. [Pg.168]

Such glass fiber-reinforced composites based on the unsaturated polyester thermosets are usually fabricated as sheet molding compounds (SMC) and bulk molding compounds (BMC). These are widely used in various metal replacement applications because of their cost-effectiveness, rigidity, light weight, and corrosion resistance properties particularly useful in transportation (cars and trucks), constmction, pipe, and tank applications. Automotive and tmck body panel and strucmral component applications of SMC include doors, hatchbacks, hoods, front grilles, etc. Some nonautomotive applications of SMC and BMC include sanitaryware (bathtubs, shower stalls, sinks), appliances, business machine, and electrical components. [Pg.1863]

Processing techniques used for basalt fibers are similar to the traditional techniques used for glass fibers (fabric, filament, staples, glass fiber-reinforced polymer [GFRP]). Thanks to their excellent properties, basalt fibers are employable in heat-resistant as weU as alkaline-resistant products (containers, pipes, GFRP, materials for thermal insulation). [Pg.9]
