Furniture leathers

Furniture leathers, unlike automotive leathers, need less high fastnesses. light-fastness is an exception. Primary furniture leather criteria are the feel properties and the visual appearance of the leather. The use of soft polyacrylate dispersions has proved

The requisite hiding performance is achieved through the partial use of the polybutadiene dispersion. Furniture leathers are softer than automotive leathers. Embossing is accordingly done under less pressure. Since the fastness requirements are lower, the top coat is less crosshnked and the appHed amount is lower. For aesthetic reasons, the leather is briefly plated after the appHcation of the top coat.

Pentachlorophenol concentrations in urine and serum can be used as biomarkers of internal dose (Colosio et al., 1993a). PCP concentrations up to about 30 mg/L were detected in urine samples of exposed workers, while concentrations lower than 0.3 mg/L were detected in the general population. The presence of PCP in biological samples of the general population is attributable to indoor exposure to the compound released from treated materials (furniture, leather, paints, etc.).

Organic Materials. Museums contain large numbers of objects made out of components from plants or animals, including wood, eg, furniture, carvings fibers eg, textiles (qv), paper (qv) fmits, skin, eg, leather (qv), parchment bone ivory etc. Several of these materials have properties related to their preservation. 

Rubbish. Rubbish consists of combustible and noncorn-bustible sohd wastes, excluding food wastes or other putrescible materials. Typically, combustible rubbish consists of materials such as paper, cardboard, plastics, textiles, rubber, leather, wood, furniture, and garden trimmings. Noncombustible rubbish consists of items such as glass, crockeiy, tin cans, aluminum cans, ferrous and other nonferrous metals, dirt, and construction wastes.

Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) is used by producers as a biocide to kill moulds that may cause furniture or shoe leather to deteriorate during storage and transportation in a humid climate. Placed in sachets, which are fixed inside the furniture or added to the footwear boxes, DMF evaporates and impregnates the leather, protecting it from moulds. However, it has been found to seriously affect consumers who were in contact with the products. DMF penetrated through the clothes onto the skin of many consumers. Cases of severe health problems have been reported in UK, Finland, France and Poland. Although it is normally not used by tanneries, there are examples where tanneries have used DMF. 

Solvent dyes are also used for tinting transparent varnishes and lacquers in the furniture and leather industries, where the surface texture of the finished articles needs to be protected but not obscured. There is also a growing demand for coloured but transparent inks for printing on the ever-increasing amounts of plastic packaging of all kinds used for the food sold in supermarkets. 

Moreover, P.Gr.7 is also found in a variety of applications outside the previously discussed areas, for instance in surface covering colorations for leather and in furniture stains. 

Uses. Manufacture of lacquers, artificial leather, photographic film, artificial glass, celluloid, artificial silk, and furniture polish... 

Other uses of iron oxide pigments are in porcelaine, rubber, paper, in floor and furniture stains, plastics, fabrics and in leather finishes. Iron oxides are especially suitable colourants for floor coverings as their resistance to alkali enables them to... 

Applications. Furniture and minor vehicle upholstery is the largest market for flexible vinyl foams. Because of better aesthetics (leather-like plastics), comfort, and favorable pricing, they are expected to show good... 

Stretchable garments usually contain no more than 20% to 25% spandex.The elastic fiber can be blended with many other fibers, including cotton, wool, silk, or synthetics to produce the final fabric. Spandex continues to find new uses, including door panels for automobiles, upholstered furniture, and more comfortable leather shoes. 

Melt compression molding identifies in-mold laminating and in-line molding of carriers, decorations, etc. The basic technique has been used for over a century. There has been an increased application of textile cover stock and leather substitutes both preferably with a soft touch. This type development was primarily initiated by the automotive industry with the objective to be prepared for future trends. Other industries such as furniture and packaging manufacturers use this process.
