Humid climate

Dorex is very toxic (see Table 2) and must be handled with extreme care. Because it may produce severe dermatitis on moist skin, it is difficult to use in hot, humid climates inhalation of the dust or spray may irritate the mucous membranes. Whereas symptoms may include a flushed face, tachycardia, headache, vertigo, and hypotension, it does not produce the typical cyanide effect. [Pg.424]

Equipment operating schedules Confirm that the timing of occupied and unoccupied cycles is compatible with actual occupied periods, and that the building is flushed by the ventilation system before occupants arrive. ASHRAE 62-1989 provides guidance on lead and lag times for HVAC equipment. In hot, humid climates, ventilation may be needed during long unoccupied periods to prevent mold grow th. [Pg.209]

The glassware was dried in an oven at 120° for 2 hours and assembled quickly while still hot. It is possible and occasionally desirable in humid climates to dry the apparatus after assembly by heating its accessible parts with a low flame from a Meaker burner while flushing it with a stream of argon, but this operation is normally unnecessary. [Pg.106]

T. cacao is cultivated at low altitudes within 1000 ft of sea level. Cacao grows exclusively between the latitudes 20°N and 20°S with 75% of the world s crop grown within 8° of the equator. Cacao requires a warm and humid climate and thrives best at shade temperatures of 65° to 95°F, although the tree has flourished under conditions of 105°F and almost 100% humidity found in areas of West Africa. Minimum rainfall requirements are an evenly distributed 40 in. per year with 60 to 80 in. desirable. [Pg.174]

A minimum air movement is necessary for moisture removal, especially in summer and in humid climates. [Pg.324]

To summarize, a mechanical system that is planned to control indoor air contaminants (including humidity, radon, combustion gases, and body odors) and reduce the risk of condensation in the building shell in a cold humid climate should include... [Pg.1297]

Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) is used by producers as a biocide to kill moulds that may cause furniture or shoe leather to deteriorate during storage and transportation in a humid climate. Placed in sachets, which are fixed inside the furniture or added to the footwear boxes, DMF evaporates and impregnates the leather, protecting it from moulds. However, it has been found to seriously affect consumers who were in contact with the products. DMF penetrated through the clothes onto the skin of many consumers. Cases of severe health problems have been reported in UK, Finland, France and Poland. Although it is normally not used by tanneries, there are examples where tanneries have used DMF. [Pg.259]

Polar and subtropical fronts have shifted southwards in the (geologically) recent past and many regions that are arid today once had a more humid climate. Conversely, many of the present humid regions were much drier in glacial periods, especially between 20,000 and 13,000 BP when aeolian processes influenced land formation more than at present. Mass wasting, fluvial processes and aeolian processes are the most important landform-shaping factors in arid and semi-arid regions. [Pg.9]

Because of latent heat, evaporation draws heat out of the air, cooling it down. Swamp coolers don t work in humid climates because very little of the water evaporates. [Pg.91]
