Full development definition

For analytical method validation during full development (after final synthesis has been set for drug substance and after final market formulation has been set for drug product) corresponding to the definitive control procedure for new drug application (NDA), a specific validation protocol has to be written. Before start of the experimental work, the protocols must be written... [Pg.456]

Prior to nomination into full development, a candidate drug should undergo a phase traditionally called preformulation. Preformulation is the physicochemical characterization of the solid and solution properties of compounds and although now relatively old, the definition of preformulation proposed by Akers (1976) is particularly apt ... [Pg.21]

Lead structure According to Valler and Green s definition a lead structure is a representative of a compound series with sufficient potential (as measured by potency, selectivity, pharmacokinetics, physicochemical properties, absence of toxicity and novelty) to progress to a full drug development program [12]. [Pg.599]

Research users need full access to the functional elements of the spectrometer system and require the most efficient and flexible tools for MR sequence and application development. If the measurement methods delivered with the software do not adequately address the specific investigational requirements of a research team, modem NMR software is an open architecture for implementing new and more sophisticated functionality, with full direct access to all hardware controlling parameters. After evaluation, the new functionality can be developed with the help of toolbox functions that allow rapid prototyping and final builds, to enable the new sequence to be executed by non-experienced personnel and then used in routine applications. These toolboxes provide application oriented definitions and connect to standard mechanisms and routine interfaces, such as the geometry editor, configuration parameters or spectrometer adjustments. [Pg.57]

Later reconstructing the history of this period, Coulson claimed that the development of wave mechanics from Schrodinger to Dirac came to a "full stop" about 1929 insofar as chemistry was concerned. It was one thing to deal with the simplest cases of the H2+ ion and the H2 molecule. These problems hardly were comparable to methane or benzene. "Despondency set in."46 Joseph Hirschfelder later recalled that there were many new techniques to be learned in the 1920s, but then the realization set in that although "nature might be simple and elegant, molecular problems were definitely more complicated.. .. At this point, the theoretical physicists left the chemist to wallow around with their messy molecules while they resumed their search for new fundamental laws of nature."47... [Pg.255]

The definition of crystal is itself a developing concept, as demonstrated by the ongoing discussions [5, 6]. Most ot the theoretical background proposed in this chapter is valid for a perfect crystal, i.e., an infinite mathematical object with an idealized crystal structure ideal crystal) in thermodynamic equilibrium at a given presstrre P and temperature T. In textbooks, only the gas phase thermodynamics is usually discussed in detail, whereas little attention is paid to the solid state. A full thermodynamic treatment of solids is beyond the scope of this chapter and the reader is referred to specific books on the subject, for example [7]. [Pg.37]

Process models are unfortunately often oversold and improperly used. Simulations, by definition, are not the actual process. To model the process, assumptions must be made about the process that may later prove to be incorrect. Further, there may be variables in the material or processing equipment that are not included in the model. This is especially true of complex processes. It is important not to confuse virtual reality with reality. The claim is often made that the model can optimize a cure cycle. The complex sets of differential equations in these models cannot be inverted to optimize the multiple properties they predict. It is the intelligent use of models by an experimenter or an optimizing routine that finds a best case among the ones tried. As a consequence, the literature is full of references to the development of process models, but examples of their industrial use in complex batch processes are not common. [Pg.454]

Since global specialty chemicals companies already operate sites in most relevant countries, average personnel costs per full-time employee can be established relatively easily. However, location-specific adjustments of the number of operators required to run a production line/plant are required. Firstly, different degrees of automation are usually deployed in developed and developing countries. This aspect is to some extent included in the plant type definition via personnel requirements that depend on the degree of automation. However, even for technically identical plants the number of operators required per shift usually differs between developed and less developed countries due to different levels of personnel productivity. Secondly, annual working hours and consequently the relationship between... [Pg.181]

The generalist and the specialist models have been successful in many hospitals, provided that there has been a systematic approach to the development, implementation, and evaluation of the clinical services provided. There must be a clearly articulated philosophy of practice that describes why a pharmacist provides clinical services and a clear definition of the work to be done. We must remember that the patient is central to any endeavor. If the clinical service is defined in terms of patient need, it becomes easier to define priorities, resource requirements, and optimal outcomes. The primary focus of a clinical service should be the patient and not a medical service or a drug category. Full integration of clinical practice into drug distribution services optimizes the chances for success. [Pg.598]

A more complex account of what visitors learn is accessed by exploring how the relationships among concepts and attitudes alter owing to site visits. Here the attention is on how visitors reorganise their overall understanding of the topic and mindfully restructure their social representation. The full definition and meaning of this term will be developed in the next few pages. [Pg.180]
