Free market forces

Although it may be difficult, more cooperation is required between vehicle manufacturers, fuel producers, and the government. The infrastructure for the production and delivery of the fuels can evolve as needed with free market forces providing most of the momentum. But, there will need to be a coordination of selections of fuels and the adjustments needed to run those fuels. 

A tradable permit system is defined as quantity-based environmental policy instrument. The regulatory authority stipulates the allowable total amount of emissions (cap) and the right to emit becomes a tradable commodity. Under a cap-and-trade system, prices are allowed to fluctuate according to market forces. Thus, the price of emissions is established indirectly. Permits could be allocated to firms through auction or free allocation. 

Now that there is a choice of caustic soda grades as increased quantities of rayon grade become available it is evident that fresh water pulp mills are seeing a difference in their process. The price differential will enable the diaphragm caustic soda to be sold, but as in any free market, market forces may wish to move to rayon grade as it becomes more widely available. 

If the causes of current problems aflfecting food quality are understood, we will be able to foresee and predict future problems. If food quality is not controlled by the actions and compromises forced by the free-market economy, or included as part of political game , everybody will benefit.

In the latter case market forces result in virtually no sales of lead free gasoline (the price is higher) which in turn reduces availability.

Clearly, institutional innovations in the form of treaties and international law must be emplaced before these competing imperatives for national energy security, nonproliferation assurances and market force mediation of fissile inventories could be brought into play. 

SNG from coal is essential to the long term energy supplies of the United States. The extensive gas distribution system is a valuable asset that must be maintained with adequate supplies of natural gas. The ratio of natural gas reserves to consumption indicates the need for alternative sources, such as SNG from coal. Current low natural gas prices will expand consumption, and in the long term, free market economics will eventually force natural gas close to fuel oil value. Depending on the long term world crude oil supplies and price, SNG from coal could become a very attractive alternative, politically and economically.
