Fires concealed

That is why we say, that in this World there are four lights, two heavenly and two central the heavenly, Sun and Moon, everybody can see, the central lights however, are covered - one with the earth, the other with the water. That is why it is not believed that they exist. That the fire concealed in the earth is of a solar nature, a little coarser than the Sun. [Pg.118]

The surface of fired pottery is generally porous and readily absorbs moisture. To conceal outside imperfections, decorate the surface, and make the pottery more or less impervious to water and other liquids, many ceramic objects are glazed, that is, coated with a thin layer of glaze (Tite 2004). The nature of glaze and the glazing process are discussed in Chapter 3. [Pg.270]

This is a booby trap firing device which may be concealed in a cigar box, book, package or under any object heavy enough to hold the arm of the mousetrap in a cocked position. [Pg.15]

To use the device, fasten the stick securely to a fixed object near the charge to be fired. Locate the trip wire in such a manner that the intended target will trip over it, or run it to a concealed position where it can be controlled by the operator. Check the circuit to be sure it is open before making final connections to battery and blasting cap. [Pg.16]

Incendiaries are cheap and little training is needed for their preparation and use. Used in very carefully executed operations, the act of sabotage may be concealed in the ashes of an accidental fire. [Pg.57]

Protect the fire from discovery during the first few minutes by good concealment and timing. [Pg.57]

Fire risk assessment is made in order to determine the overall value of decreasing fire hazard in a particular scenario. The level of fire risk that is acceptable for a situation is, normally, a societal, and not a technical, decision. Therefore, fire hazard assessments are generally more common than fire risk assessments. The NFPA Research Foundation has undertaken a project to develop a methodology for fire risk assessment. It has done this by studying four cases in detail upholstered furniture in residential environments, wire and cable in concealed spaces in hotels and motels, floor coverings in offices and wall coverings in restaurants. [Pg.475]

In the 1980 s years there has been some controversy about the effect of fires involving combustible products contained in such concealed spaces. This addresses the room-plenum scenario both when a fire starts in the room and when a fire starts in the plenum and investigates its spread into the room below. [Pg.593]

The central axis, Shushumna, is the channel for the Quintessence— the concealed Glory, all-pervading Akasha. But do not hold too rigidly to the idea that the Shushumna is confined to the subtle equivalent of the spinal column. Sometimes in meditation, the Shushumna can appear as fine as a hair and, at other times, so wide that the entire body becomes one stream of force, a fire of highest inspiration, annihilating all limits, and growing until it fills the whole universe. [Pg.72]

And this same thing, which follows its companion without fire, causes many colours to appear when embracing it, for this reason, that the said one thing enters into every regimen, and is found everywhere, being a stone, and also not a stone common and precious hidden and concealed, yet known by... [Pg.146]

Cock the weapon by pulling back the striker knob until the trigger lever engages the sear notch on the striker. It is now ready to fire. The weapon may be concealed up the sleeve and fired by squeezing the lever with your thumb. [Pg.65]

Of the element Earth, he says —"In this element the other three, especially fire, are latent. It is gross and porous, specifically heavy, but naturally light. It receives all that the other three project into it, conscientiously conceals what it should hide, and brings to light that which it should manifest. Outwardly it is visible and fixed, inwardly it is invisible and volatile."... [Pg.22]

Flash Hide r or Muzzle Flash Suppressor (Dampfer, in Ger). A metallic cone and/or flat disks which ate attached to the muzzle of a gun to conceal the flash when the gun is fired and to prevent temporary blindness of the crew while firing... [Pg.459]

Dormant Missile. A Rus device known as Golem can be left unattended in concealed locations and then fired at will by remote control... [Pg.429]

The nature of this stone benefits the eyes when mixed with other powders. And when some of this stone is placed upon a fire without smoke, the flame is tinged by its color. And when calcined, fire becomes concealed in it.40... [Pg.206]

In the military, white phosphorus is used in ammunitions such as mortar and artillery shells, and grenades. When ammunitions containing white phosphorus are fired in the field, they burn and produce smoke. The smoke contains some unbumt phosphorus, but it mainly has various burned phosphorus products. In military operations, such smoke is used to conceal troop movements and to identify targets or the locations of friendly forces. White phosphorus munitions are intended to burn or firebomb the opponents, in other words, to effectively produce widespread damage but not kill the enemy. [Pg.15]

The heat peculiar to the Earth, is fit only for corruption. Its moisture weakens it, and could produce nothing unless aided by the celestial heat, pure and without mixture, which leaves to generation, by exciting the action of the internal fire, by developing it, by expanding it, and by drawing it, to speak thus, from the center of the seed, where it lies torpid and concealed. These two heats by their homogeneity work in concert for the production and preservation of the Mixts. [Pg.39]

Fire, her universal agent, is the principle of elementary fire. The latter is nourished by all fat matters, because all that which is fat is of a humid and aerial nature. Although, externally, it may appear dry to us, as sulphur, gunpowder, etc., experience teaches us that this exterior conceals a fat, oily moisture, which is resolved by the action of heat. [Pg.43]

We say ordinary of minerals that they exist, and not that they live, as we say of animals and vegetables nevertheless we may say that the metals derive life in some manner from the minerals, either because in their generation there is, so to speak, a union of male and female under the name of Sulphur and Mercury, which by fermentation, circulation and continuous concoction, are purified by the aid of the Salt in Nature, and finally are formed into a mass which we call metals or because the perfect metals contain the principle of life, or innate Fire, which become weak and without movement under the hard exterior which encloses it a principle which is concealed there as a treasure, until being freed by a philosophical solution of this exterior, it is developed and exalted by a vegetative movement, to the highest degree of perfection which Art can give it. [Pg.46]

Experience has shown to glass-makers, people usually very ignorant concerning Nature, that this Moisture is concealed in ashes. They have found by means of fire the secret of manifesting it, so far as art and the violence of artificial fire are capable. To make glass the ashes must be fused, and there could be no fusion where there is no moisture. [Pg.53]

Thus one cannot, without error, confound this Humid Radical with Innate Fire. The latter is the inhabitant, the former the habitation, the dwelling. It is, in all the Mixts, the laboratory of Vulcan the hearth on which is preserved that immortal Fire, the prime-motor created from all the faculties of individuals the universal Balm, the most precious Elixir of Nature, the perfectly sublimated Mercury of Life, which Nature distributes by weight and measure to all the Mixts. He who will know how to extract this treasure from the heart, and from the hidden center of the productions of this lower world, to despoil it of its thick elementary shell, which conceals it from our eyes and to draw it from the dark prison in which it is enclosed and inactive, may boast of knowing how to make the most precious MEDICINE to relieve the human body. [Pg.54]

The reason which induced the ancient Sages to make a mystery of their Vessel, was the slight knowledge of the manufacture of glass which one possessed in those times. Later on the manner of making it has been discovered. Therefore the Philosophers have not concealed so much the matter and form of their Vessel. Not so of their secret Fire it is a labyrinth from which the most skilful could not extricate himself. [Pg.79]
