The concept of the SELF (Standard ELectronic File) format was developed in 1998-2002 by the Task Group on Standard Physico-Chemical Data Formats (lUCOSPED) of the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (lUPAC) and the Committee on Data for Science and Technology (CODATA) in cooperation with the International Council of Scientific and Technical Information (ICSTI).
