Discharge times

Optimization of Cycle Times. In batch filters, one of the important decisions is how much time is allocated to the different operations such as filtration, displacement dewatering, cake washing, and cake discharge, which may involve opening of the pressure vessel. Ah. of this has to happen within a cycle time /. which itself is not fixed, though some of the times involved may be defined, such as the cake discharge time. [Pg.393]

The first capacitor is half the rating of the remaining ones, which are all equal. The p.f. correction is delayed, due to allowing discharge time. The smallest unit is more stressed. [Pg.768]

Capability to control and extinguish the anticipated fire condition without outside assistance, unless planned for (dependent on requisite spacing of discharge nozzles to cover all areas at risk, application rates, discharge times, quantities of extinguishant available). [Pg.411]

The effectiveness of portable extinguishers is limited by the need to keep their weight, and therefore the amount of extinguishing agent they contain, within the limits necessary for quick and easy handling. The maximum discharge time, which can be expected from any portable extinguisher, is approximately 60-120 seconds. [Pg.164]

The discharge rate C is defined by the discharge current and the nominal capacity of the secondary cell. It is equal to the reciprocal value of the discharging time ... [Pg.17]

Using the known thermal conductivity data [46] of the wafers, their internal thermal relaxation time was estimated to be less than 1 ms, i.e. much shorter than C/G. Such estimate was confirmed by the fact that, within the experimental errors, a single discharge time constant r was always observed. [Pg.299]

During the discharge period, reaction continues in the tank in accordance with the same rate equation, for the 20 minutes of the discharge time. The concentrations during this period are tabulated. The mean value to storage is obtained by trapezoidal integration,... [Pg.439]

The flow rate is then corrected by a ratio of the weeping time to the cycle time. Next the discharge time constant (RD C) of the capacitor is determined. If this is shorter than formation time, the entire capacitor expansion is added to bubble volume. If not, the same percentage of the capacitor expansion volume is added because the formation time is of the order of the capacitor discharge constant. The final value thus obtained forms the starting point for the next iterative step. This is continued till the values from two successive iterations are nearly the same. [Pg.359]

To answer Willard s question about which is better, a single powerful discharge or a sustained spark, I would recommend a quick blast versus a sustained charge that will heat up the plugs too much and because the actual discharge time in the cylinder is very short due to engine RPMs. [Pg.35]

The value for used in the snubber design is 1 kil. For the turnoff snubber to be effective, the minimum on-time of the switch should be greater than the capacitor s discharge time so that the capacitor s voltage can discharge to 0.1 Vj before the beginning of the next switching cycle therefore, the minimum on time for the GTO should be... [Pg.86]

Example with nigrosine paste and silver electrodes, a storage of 1.5 mAh/cm3 and, at a mean voltage of 0.9 V with a discharge time of about 11 min, a volumetric storage capacity of 1.3 mWh/cm3 were measured. The corresponding capacity of a lead starter battery is 11 mAh/cm3 or 15 mWh/cm3. [Pg.121]

Silver-cadmium satellite batteries have been used, in cyclic periods of five hours or more with discharge times of 30-60 min. Operational and test programs have shown cycle life periods of 3 yr at low temperatures. At temperatures of 40°C and 50°C, the cycle life is 1 yr and 0.2 yr, respectively. The cycle life at intermediate temperatures is L.4-2.0 yr. [Pg.188]
