Decision-making process data sources

In the book Project Sponsorship by Randall Englund and Alfonso Bucero, feedback bias may be alleviated by the use of a Feedback Action Plan and a Feedback Assessment Tool. A Feedback Action Plan allows decision makers to map out, early in the decision-making process, the sources of data to be sought, the media in which the feedback will be delivered, the timeliness of the reception of that feedback, and an action plan for use of the feedback received. A Feedback Assessment Tool is a list of feedback items that can be graded on a scale of 1 to 10 in order to allow the decision-making team to assess the quality and diversity of feedback items received, and then evaluate the changes in decisions made based on that feedback. [Pg.101]

It is part of the early decision-making process to assess which parts of the LIMS are to be subject to full validation and which are to be covered by good IT or engineering testing practice. The function of LIMS within the company computing architecture may mean that it is utilized for both product quality related and non-product-quality-related activities. The validation determination for LIMS ensures that the validation effort is focused toward those system elements with direct GxP impact. The justification for validating only certain parts of LIMS must be based on an assessment of the GxP criticality of the data in the LIMS database, the use of the data and the sources of the data. In the ideal world LIMS would be dedicated to GxP activities. However, the economics of the system may mean that it is not practical to separate GxP and non-GxP activities into separate systems. [Pg.521]

Once the process characteristics have been identified, it is then critical that appropriate measures of these characteristics be available. If data does not exist, an appropriate measurement method must be developed and evaluated. If data already exists, a thorough study on the measurement system variation in terms of both accuracy and precision needs to be completed to determine the overall measurement system capability. Excessive variation in the measurement and test system (M TS) will adversely affect the sensitivity of the decision-making process and may be a source of unnatural variation. [Pg.1984]

Virtual Instrumentation allows organizations to effectively harness the power of the PC to access, analyze, and share information throughout the organization. With vast amount of data available from increasingly sophisticated enterprise-level data sources, potentially useful information is often left hidden due to a lack of useful tools. Virtual instruments can employ a wide array of technologies such as multidimensional analyses and Statistical Process Control (SPC) tools to detect patterns, trends, causalities, and discontinuities to derive knowledge and make informed decisions. [Pg.847]

Intelligence— The process by which analysis is applied to information and data to inform policy making, decision making, operations, and tactical decisions. Intelligence serves many purposes among which are the identification and elimination of threat sources, the investigations and resolution of threats, the identification and treatment of a security risk, and the elimination of a threat source. [Pg.490]

Frequently, the existence and source of such information is nnknown thns the data are not examined. Even when the existence and sonrces of information are known, decisions must be made in order to make an informed, and often quick decision on the next steps, even if later, one decides not to nse it for a particular application. Knowing about the relevant data gives investigators and analysts the ability to assess the data based on qnality assnrance criteria. This is especially true for users near the end of long decision processes, such as site cleanup, ecological risk assessments, and natural resource damage assessments. [Pg.3]
