Linking customer needs or site problems to the key points of the vendor product/service through the provision of features and benefits. The features of a product/service are often described in a product data sheet, equipment bulletin, or menu of available services. They can be linked to customer needs as part of the mechanism for resolving those needs. However, on their own, features are of little real interest. What is required is for the seller to provide a description or demonstration of how the product features can be used to solve the buyer s problems or meet customer needs (selling benefits). Customers will buy only those items that can be clearly...

The information to be compiled about the chemicals, including process intermediates, needs to be comprehensive enough for an accurate assessment of the fire and explosion characteristics, reactivity hazards, the safety and health hazards to workers, and the corrosion and erosion effects on the process equipment and monitoring tools. Current material safety data sheet (MSDS) information can be used to help meet this requirement but must be supplemented with process chemistry information, including runaway reaction and over-pressure hazards, if applicable. 

Even, limited PSAs use and contain much information. This information may come as memos and process reports and flow sheets, equipment layout, system descriptions, toxic inventory, hazardous chemical reactions, test, maintenance and operating descriptions. From this, data and analyses are prepared regarding release quantities, doses, equipment reliability, probability of exposure, and the risk to workers, public, and environment. An executive summary analysis is detailed, and recommendations made for risk reduction. Thus the information will be text, calculations of envelope fracture stresses, temperatures, fire propagation, air dispersion, doses, and failure probabilities - primarily in tabular form. 

A calibration process may consist of no more than a single data sheet but may also consist of several pages for very complex equipment. Even if you possess all the manufacturers manuals and these cover calibration, it is still good practice to generate your own data sheet as a means of tailoring the method to your own needs. You may wish to limit adjustments, add checks, provide clearer instructions, or generate your own records and as part of the process the pro forma should be included.
