Comparison with the composition of natural garnets published in the literature suggests that almandine garnets observed on archaeological jewels have been mined from India while rhodolite garnets may have been imported from Ceylon (Sri Lanka). The sources of pyrope garnets likely correspond to the Bohemian deposits (Czech republic).

ABSTRACT The article deals with the landfills and risk identification within waste disposal in a selected region of the Czech Republic. As a case study the systematic risk identification, its evaluation and selection of critical risks during waste disposal at the selected landfills was made. Within the risk management process the methodology of safety audit and checldist analysis were apphed. This methodology is based on semi-quantitative evaluation of received data which are the base for the risk comparison at the selected landfills. 

The monitoring of past and current activities of combat vehicles and their impacts on the ecological burden of military training areas is an important task. The Methodical Instructions of the Czech (Ministry of the Environment of the Czech Republic. 1996) determine criteria for soil contamination assessment. Comparison of concentration values detected during contamination survey with the predetermined criteria enables contamination to be assessed and classified into categories according to the level of consequen-cies. Further contamination assessment procedure is then recommended for each category. 

Soft gelatine capsules are considered to give reasonable protection from exposure of unsaturated oils to air. Capsules containing CLA free fatty acids showed a slight increase in polymer content from 1% in freshly prepared capsules to 7% after 5 y (data not published). For comparison of health risks, a limit for rejection on cooking oils has been established in some countries values listed in a report from the European Parliament are 16% (Holland), and 10% (Belgium and Czech Republic) (21).

The accuracy of the REPVICS code system has been checked against many measurements. One of the most interesting studies concerned samples scraped from the inner and outer surface of the pressure vessels of both Loviisa units. Some preliminary comparisons have also been made with data measured at the LR-0 zero power reactor in Rez (Czech Republic) [13]. All studies indicate that the calculation system is able to produce reliable results for fast fluxes and spectra up to at least the cavity outside the pressure vessel. The differences between calculated and measured values are less than 20% in many cases the agreement is much better [14].
