Air—electric samplers can be installed directly in the pipe wall. One type of Hquid sampler is operated by a solenoid valve that activates an air cylinder. A shaft is moved in and out of the pipe by this cylinder and samples are expeUed into a container below the sampler. Sample volumes of from 2—30 mL are possible. [Pg.303]

The slide is located in the compressor casting below the rotors, allowing internal gas recirculation without compression. Slide valve is operated by a piston located in a hydraulic cylinder and actuated by high-pressure oil from both sides. The electronic fuel injection (EFI) system meters the hydrogen to each cylinder. This system uses individual electronic fuel injectors (solenoid valves) for each cylinder and are plumbed to a common fuel rail located down the center of the intake manifold. Whereas the CVI system uses constant injection timing and variable fuel rail pressure, the EFI system uses variable injection timing and constant fuel rail pressure. [Pg.16]

Retraction systems automatically withdraw the furnace camera several feet back from the firebox if the systems sense loss of either water, air coolant, or high lens tube temperature. This gives the lens additional protection from the heated air that would blow against the lens if fans stopped and negative pressure changed to positive pressure. The retraction system is often air-operated, using an air-reserve tank as a purely pneumatic system component. This makes it totally independent of electricity. On loss of air pressure, water coolant, or high lens tube temperature, a solenoid valve opens and activates a rodless cylinder to withdraw the lens from harms way.
