Pneumatic cylinders

Enclosure doors should be designed with generous clearances and be easily operated by simple mechanisms. Wheels, guide rollers, and pneumatic cylinders can be used as part of door mechanisms. [Pg.903]

Automatic operation may be by means of compressed air, operating a pneumatic cylinder, or electricity. Pneumatics is generally favored for industrial applications and electricity for commercial premises. Economy of installation is normally the deciding factor, since running costs are low for either system. [Pg.422]

In general, pneumatic systems are less expensive to manufacture and operate, but there are factors that prohibit their universal application. The compressibility of air, as any gas, limits the operation of pneumatic systems. For example, a pneumatic cylinder cannot maintain... [Pg.583]

The clean-up fixture is part of the drip pan. The clean-up fixture and the drip pan are drained by gravity to the WP operating tank. The fixture is connected by a hose to a drain pipe that connects to the HP operating tank. The fixture is operated in the horizontal plane by a cushioned-stroke pneumatic cylinder for smooth operation. The fixture travel is two-position travel. The first travel or shorter distance is for drip pan function during normal operation and the greater or over travel is for clean-up operations. The clean-up fixture opening is such that the filling nozzle seats on the clean-up fixture as it would on a munition. [Pg.176]

The dosing cyhnder is a pneumatic cylinder which applies an adjustable downward force on the inverted canister to cause a dose to be expelled. [Pg.192]

Any residual material left in the shuttle is blanketed by a slow flow of dry nitrogen gas to prevent fouling of the shuttle between uses. Pneumatic cylinders, driven from solenoid valves that are controlled by a power- and event-controller, provide the shuttle motion, and position is confirmed by Hall Effect detectors on the pneumatic cyhnders and monitored by the power and event controller. [Pg.195]

To control the propellant pressure injection, that is, the pressure necessary to inject liquid propellant through the valve, an air regulator is fitted on the inlet of the pneumatic cylinder, as shown in Figs. 27 and 28. By adjusting the amount of air pressure allowed in the pneumatic cylinder, it is possible to decrease or increase the propellant pressure injection. This pressure injection varies, according to the type of valve, between 500 and 800 psi. Manufactures of valves usually recommend specific pressure injection for their products. [Pg.353]

Fig. 11.1). The test foot is applied against the test surface, the actuating (pneumatic) cylinder causes swinging (slippage) motion of the test foot, and the instrument displays the slip index on its protractor scale. It ensures consistent operation by the application of uniform force for each test, and permits reliable metering of inclined surfaces such as ramps. The application of vertical and horizontal forces is simultaneous, thus avoiding residence -time and permitting reliable measurement of wet surfaces. Fig. 11.1). Hydraulic or pneumatic cylinders may be mounted on the mold to actuate horizontal coring members. It is possible to mold angular coring, without the need for costly loose details, by adding angular core pins... [Pg.167]

Therefore, counter mass and counter balance mechanisms with pneumatic cylinders are widely used for gravity compensation in conventional machine tools, although the use of these mechanisms deteriorates machine performance due to vibration, low response, or pressure fluctuation. The above-mentioned ultraprecision machine tool is equipped with a vertical nano-motion system integrated with a pair of noncontact gravity compensators. [Pg.1276]

Describe the different technological processes that would be involved in your solution. In the example we are using, there might be a digital circuit that would activate a PLC. The PLC would cause a pneumatic cylinder to push a door open to allow the dog food... [Pg.368]

The casting cycle starts with the moving machine platen, to which one die half is attached, being pushed forward, usually by a pneumatic cylinder, until it locks against the other die half attached to the fixed machine platen. Only when the dies are completely locked does the safety system allow the plunger to be depressed. [Pg.300]

I) Transducer clips (Figure 9) are fitted to the T.C.U. s on each of the four small restraint garters. The grips are held in the manipulator grab viiich keeps the jaws open for fitting, a pneumatic cylinder fitted to one of the Jaws ensures that the clip is in the correct axial position prior to fitting. [Pg.76]

Each mould carrier is usually provided with two pneumatic cylinders for opening and closing. Upon demand, the closing system can be actuated hydraulically or mechanically. [Pg.122]

The setup is arranged so that the tapered disks fall in between the slit coils, thus preventing the strands from interleaving or contacting each other. The separator shaft maintains contact with the outside diameter of the coil throughout the coil buildup via a pivoting action, with pressure being established by an hydraulic or pneumatic cylinder. [Pg.86]

The Plunger Up Control controls utilizes an FPS (Flexible Pressure System) control valve which can be set to supply four different pressure values (three different positive values and zero) to the plunger s pneumatic cylinder over the duration of the pressing cycle. As depicted in Figure 7, typically we have ... [Pg.43]

Static pinch valve The feed tube from the product tank passes underneath the pneumatic pinch cylinder. When the valve is closed, the pneumatic cylinder closes the tube. When the cylinder opens, the product flows through the tube to the dispenser nozzle. [Pg.109]

The fundamental principle behind a computerised sewing machine is the synchroniser, a device that monitors and counts the rotation of a hand wheel. While the synchroniser acts as the logic provider to the electronic circuit, the solenoids or pneumatic cylinders move the machine parts. With one complete rotation of the hand wheel, the needle bar completes one cycle of needle up/down movement. For example, when the needle is at topmost position, and the electronic marker is set at 90° position on the hand wheel, every time the electronic marker come to 90° position on the hand wheel the needle will be at topmost position. Using this logic, the synchroniser can... [Pg.292]

One of the most common track-and-column braiders is based on a pneumatic actuatirm system (Figure 7.14). The yam carrier tracks are actuated by one two-way pneumatic cylinder, which allows moving the yam tracks back and forth by switching one general track movement valve. Thus, the absolute track displacement value is defined by the cam of the pneumatic cylinders. The movements of the tracks are transferred to the yam carriers within the track due to the design of the tracks, which have multiple cavities containing the yam carrier. [Pg.163]

The movement of columns imposes a more demanding challenge, as movement can only be achieved via pushing the yam carriers. This requires two one-way pneumatic cylinders at each side of each column pushing the column back and forth (Figure 7.15). In addition, the pneumatic plungers must retract after each column movement to allow... [Pg.163]
