Cut-outs

In order to effectively lift the cuttings out of the hole a certain viscosity needs to be achieved, yet the fluid must remain pumpable. If the mud circulation stops, for instance... [Pg.39]

These events will need to be marked on the correlation panel. In case of faulfs the thickness of the missing section or cut out should be quantified. [Pg.139]

Specimens used in tests were sections of cables with PVC outer coating. PVC was plasticized with DOF softener. The materials considered were exposed to the radiation and thermal aging. The samples have been irradiated at room temperature by hard gamma rays with 10 rad/sec dose power. A number of samples had been heated for long different times at 90°C. Besides a special specimens were cut out from outer coating for test on tensile machine like "Instron". The total doses of irradiation, times of heating and elongations at break obtained with "Instron" are listed in Table 1. [Pg.244]

As described above 2314 ROIs were cut out of several radiographs of austenitic welds and the accessory feamres were calculated. The true data for each radiograph is known by destructive testing and evaluation. The ROIs represent the following dataset ... [Pg.465]

In principle, the pictures with the indications to be valuated where stored. The regions of interest where cut out and rearranged in a new picture for further processing as shown for example in Fig. 3. You see a part of the reference block No. 1 with indications from 3 wetting procedures (horizontal) of 6 detection media (vertical). [Pg.672]

The apparatus to use is seen in figure 13 which consists of a burette, thermometer, Erlenmeyer flask and a two-holed rubber stopper that has a small V-shaped wedge cut out of one side of the rubber stopper to allow the inside contents to vent. 31.5g of orangy-red fuming nitric acid (see chemicals section) is poured into the Erlenmeyer flask and the rubber stopper with its burette and thermometer is placed on to the... [Pg.133]

A triangular shaped wheel cover with the center cut out to provide hub access was then applied to a wheel. The cover was constructed from a heat shrinkable poly- 10 olefin ftlm. Tape was attached to the apex points of the triangle. The tape liner was removed and the three adhesive sites were fastened to the spokes. As an identical complementary cover was then applied to the opposite face of the wheel in a mirror image fashion. The 1 adhesive contact points were positioned to encapsulate the spoke on either side within the adhesive contact point. Heat was then used to shrink the covers and achieve a wrinkle-free condition. This example demonstrates that design can play a part in providing a stylish wheel cover that is capable of individualizing the bicycle to meet a wide variety of consumer tastes. [Pg.29]

Productivity of local craft labor also depends on the use and avail-abihty of modern mechanical tools and construction equipment. Normally, the low cost of labor in certain countries tends to cut out the purchase or hire of sophisticated laborsaving equipment and to encourage the employment of large pools of labor, particularly in developing countries such as India, Pakistan, southeast Asian countries, and many African countries. In turn, this usually leads to higher construc tion costs. The use of laborsaving eqiiipment is prevalent in Canada, western Europe, Japan, and, to an increasing extent, the Middle East. [Pg.876]

The two principal elements of evaporator control are evaporation rate a.ndproduct concentration. Evaporation rate in single- and multiple-effect evaporators is usually achieved by steam-flow control. Conventional-control instrumentation is used (see Sec. 22), with the added precaution that pressure drop across meter and control valve, which reduces temperature difference available for heat transfer, not be excessive when maximum capacity is desired. Capacity control of thermocompression evaporators depends on the type of compressor positive-displacement compressors can utilize speed control or variations in operating pressure level. Centrifugal machines normally utihze adjustable inlet-guide vanes. Steam jets may have an adjustable spindle in the high-pressure orifice or be arranged as multiple jets that can individually be cut out of the system. [Pg.1148]

Large units (other than custom units) are usually built up of standardized rectangular sections in parallel. Each section contains on the order of 1000 to 2000 ft" of cloth, and the sections are assembled in the field to form a single filter housing. In this manner, the filter can be partitioned so that one or more sections at a time can be cut out of service for shaking or general maintenance. [Pg.1601]

When external secondaiy resistance is used for improved starting charac teristics, short-time-rated resistors are employed. As the motor accelerates, steps of resistance are cut out on a time or current basis to give the desired accelerating torque and current characteristics. [Pg.2491]

A weeping leak developed in a carbon steel emergency service water pipe at a circumferential weld emplo3nng a weld-backing ring. A rubberized saddle clamp was used to plug the leak temporarily. After several weeks the section was cut out of the system and the failure was examined. [Pg.147]

Cut-oul wind speed is the maximum w ind speed beyond which the prime mover may overspeed above its permissible limits. As the structure and the blades are designed for a particular maximum speed, a wind speed higher than this may exceed their mechanical endurance and become unsafe. At this speed the brakes apply and the machine is disconnected from the grid. The cut-in and cut-out speeds define the wind speed limits within which the turbine will work safely through the generator. Rated wind speed is the speed at which the prime mover rotates at the rated negative slip and generates the rated power. [Pg.159]

Benzeneazodiphenylamine (4-phenylazodiphenylamine) [28110-26-1] M 273.3, m 82, pK 1.52. Purified by chromatography on neutral alumina using anhydrous C6H6 with 1% anhydrous MeOH. The major component, which gave a stationary band, was cut out and eluted with EtOH or MeOH. [Hogfeldt and Bigeleisen J Am Chem Soc 82 15 I960.] Crystd from pet ether or EtOH. See Sudan I. [Pg.120]
