Rectangular section

Large units (other than custom units) are usually built up of standardized rectangular sections in parallel. Each section contains on the order of 1000 to 2000 ft" of cloth, and the sections are assembled in the field to form a single filter housing. In this manner, the filter can be partitioned so that one or more sections at a time can be cut out of service for shaking or general maintenance. [Pg.1601]

These should normally be used in a box form for better mounting, uniformity and metal utilization. The method of determining the reactance for single- and three-phase systems is the same as for rectangular sections (Figure 28.20(a)). [Pg.881]

Consider channels in a box form for the same requirements and operating conditions as for rectangular sections. [Pg.897]

For the rest of the calculations for mechanical suitability of the busbar system the procedure for rectangular sections can be followed. [Pg.900]

Even leaf springs can take many different forms, but all of them are basically elastic beams loaded in bending. A rectangular section elastic beam, simply supported at both ends, loaded centrally with a force , deflects by an amount... [Pg.120]

A uniform, rectangular-section beam of fixed width w, unspecified depth d, and fixed length L rests horizontally on two simple supports at either end of the beam. A concentrated force E acts vertically downwards through the centre of the beam. The deflection, 8, of the loaded point is... [Pg.277]

A rectangular section polypropylene beam has a length, L of 200 mm and a width of 12 mm. It is subjected to a load, W, of ISO N uniformly distributed over its length, L, and it is simply supported at each end. If the maximum deflection of the beam is not to exceed 6 mm after a period of I year estimate a suitable depth for the beam. The central deflection of the beam is given by... [Pg.159]

A rectangular section beam of solid polypropylene is 12 mm wide, 8 mm deep and 300 mm long. If a foamed core polypropylene beam, with a 2 mm solid skin on the upper and lower surfaces only, is to be made the same width, length and weight estimate the depth of the composite beam and state the ratio of the stiffness of the two beams, (p = 909 kg/m, p = 500 kg/m ). [Pg.162]

Most processing methods involve flow in capillary or rectangular sections, which may be uniform or tapered. Therefore the approach taken here will be to develop first the theory for Newtonian flow in these channels and then when the Non-Newtonian case is considered it may be seen that the steps in the analysis are identical although the mathematics is a little more complex. At the end of the chapter a selection of processing situations are analysed quantitatively to illustrate the use of the theory. It must be stressed however, that even the more complex analysis introduced in this chapter will not give precisely accurate... [Pg.343]

When the polymer melt emerges from a die with a rectangular section there will be swelling in both the width (T) and thickness (H) directions. By a similar analysis to that given above expressions may be derived for the swelling in... [Pg.364]

Example 5.13 Derive an expression for the flow length of a power law fluid when it is injected at constant pressure into a rectangular section channel assuming... [Pg.396]

Solution (a) As shown earlier the flow rate of a power law fluid in a rectangular section is given by... [Pg.396]

Derive expressions for the velocity profile, shear stress, shear rate and volume flow rale during the isothermal flow of a power law fluid in a rectangular section slit of width W, depth H and length L. During tests on such a section the following data was obtained. [Pg.407]

Here w and d are width and depth and the units may be meters or millimeters. Alternatively, the diameter may be found from published charts. Using Figure 29.5 a pressure gradient (Pa/m) is chosen and with each change of volume flow a new diameter is found. This is converted to a convenient rectangular section equivalent to the round section. It will be seen that the velocity reduces. [Pg.445]

Thus the most economical rectangular section is one where the width is equal to twice the depth of liquid flowing. The most economical proportions for other shapes may be determined in a similar manner. [Pg.98]

Slip-on welding flanges are permitted in sizes and pressure classes established in ASME B16.5. Slip-on flanges of rectangular section may be substituted for hubbed slip-on flanges provided the thickness is increased as required to produce equivalent strength as determined by calculations made in accordance with ASME BPV Code Section VIII, Division 1, Appendix 2. [Pg.134]

The four corners of the walkway are each one-fourth of the same 6-foot-radius circle. Just find the area of a circle with a radius of 6 feet, and add it onto the four rectangular sections. The four rectangular sections have dimensions matching the sides of the pool. Two sections are 40 x 6, and the other two are 30 x 6. [Pg.274]

The total area of the walkway is the area of the circle plus twice the area of each rectangular section. [Pg.274]

The rectangular sections must be reinforced with folds or reinforcement to resist deformations and vibrations. [Pg.42]

In Poland another system is also known that works on the same principle as the angle-shot mortar. This is a mortar with a horizontal slit. Figure 139 shows diagram-matically the arrangement in a rectangular section gallery at Mikoldw. [Pg.417]

Charts showing these functions are divided by the nodes into rectangular sections filled by curved contours (Fig. 163). Here it is even more desirable to construct skeleton charts with a set of master keys to fit the differently shaped rectangular sections. The same chart can be used either for the two functions already mentioned or for... [Pg.289]

For the illustration here, consider rectangular cross sections of a varying aspect ratio (Fig. 4.7). Define the rectangular section as having dimensions a and b, with a being the long dimension. Further define the aspect ratio a = b/a. Clearly, 0 < a < 1. [Pg.170]

Columnar mesophases of rectangular section have been obtained by combining the monotopic components of 173 with the TP2 and TU2 units their occurrence may be attributed to the formation of mixed 2/1 supermolecules 175 [9.153],... [Pg.171]
