Customizing charts

This chapter shows several ways to plot multiple data series, and how to customize charts, create charts with multiple axes and link spreadsheet data to chart text. [Pg.109]

Use the procedure in the following box to define a custom chart format and make that the default format. The new chart format will remain in effect through all subsequent sessions of Excel. [Pg.121]

Finally, the laboratory expends significant effort communicating results to both internal and external customers. Production, quaUty assurance, and purchasing all have various information needs ranging from the simple pass /fail decisions to statistical summaries of the data and suppHer product quahty. Customers expect to receive lot analyses in the form of a COA and often also want their own product-specific information on the document as well. This information can automatically be appHed to the COA if entered into the LIMS. Often, a quaUty-conscious customer wants information about the product in the form of process capabiUty or control charts. Using LIMS, these charts can be provided on demand. [Pg.368]

An important part of the decision-making tool flow chart (see Fig. 1) is the redefinition of the specifications by the sensor customer after the surveying and testing of commercial sensor systems. This process almost always involves a downgrading of the expectations of the sensor customer, but it can also force a reaUstic evaluation of what sensor information really needs to be made available and at what cost. [Pg.390]

The preparation of a matrix and the subsequent evaluation of the hazards identified can lead to a qualitative judgment of process risk and to the identification of available pathways to reduce that risk. Software is available to assist in making and maintaining interactionlike matrices. One example is a database shell called CHEMPAT (AIChE, 1995). Documenting the Process. The net effect of these steps is a process description, defined in terms of customers and suppliers and their interaction. Next, the team can summarize that description in the form of a process flowchart, to illustrate the roles and responsibilities of each process stakeholder (see Figure 6-8). Once analytical results have been produced, invariably a certain amount of manipulation is necessary to translate the results into information that can be understood by the customer. The reporting analyst may have to sort and process a large and varied amount of information in order to produce a small number of final answers. Data from standards may be used to produce calibration curves or calibrate instrument response. Results from quality control samples will have been plotted on charts to ensure that the system was working satisfactorily at the time the measurements were made. Sample data will be quantified by comparison with the standards and suitable corrections made.
