The cupric salt can serve as a basic material in the prepn of Cu(II) aceto-arsenite, an ingredient of some pyrotechnic compns. The so-called Ruggieri s Russian Fire compn contained Cu acetate 4, Cu sulfate 2 ... [Pg.298]

Kochi700 found that oxidative decarboxylation by lead tetraacetate is catalyzed not only by pyridine but even more markedly by cupric acetate, Cu(OAc)2, and other copper salts. Since the reaction is inhibited by oxygen, a free-radical reaction apparently is involved. The method is useful in synthesis. Thus Jensen and W. S. Johnson700 converted the tetrahydroabietic acid (1) into the diene mixture (2) in... [Pg.394]

Oxidative decarboxylation (1, 554-557 2, 235-237). Cupric acetate, Cu(0Ac)2.H20, markedly catalyzes decarboxylation of primary and secondary acids, and in this case alkenes, rather than alkanes, are formed in good to excellent yield, for example ... [Pg.87]

Add I c.c. of a saturated alcoholic solution of cupric acetate to a few drops of the ester, a bluish-green crystalline precipitate of copper acetoacetic ester, (CoH903), Cu, is formed. See Appendix, p. 248. i . ... [Pg.84]

Recently, the required heteroaromatic organozinc halides for the Negishi reaction have also been prepared using microwave irradiation [23]. Suna reported that a Zn - Cu couple (activated Zn), prepared using a slightly modified LeGoff procedure from Zn dust and cupric acetate monohydrate, allowed the smooth preparation of (3-pyridinyl)zinc iodide and (2-thienyl)zinc iodide... [Pg.158]

Samples are hydrolyzed with hydrochloric acid and stannous chloride solution at elevated temperature, and the evolved carbon disulfide is drawn with an air steam through two gas washing tubes in series containing lead acetate and sodium hydroxide solutions and an absorption tube containing an ethanolic solution of cupric acetate and diethanolamine. Lead acetate and sodium hydroxide remove hydrogen sulfide and other impurities. In the absorption tube, the carbon disulfide forms two cupric complexes of Af,Af-bis(2-hydroxyethyl)dithiocarbamic acid with molecular ratios Cu CS2 of 1 1 and 1 2. These complexes are measured simultaneously by spectrophotometry at 453 nm. [Pg.1092]

Hexammino-cupric Chloride, [Cu(NH3)6]Cl2.—This salt was prepared by Faraday in ISIS by allowing ammonia gas to act upon fused cuprie chloride. Increase in bulk immediately took place and a blue powder was formed. The compound may be conveniently prepared by allowing dry ammonia to act on a solution of the cupric salt in ethyl acetate, when a green precipitate of hexammino-chloride is formed which is washed with ethyl acetate and dried.1 The same compound is obtained by the action of liquid ammonia on anhydrous cupric chloride previously saturated with ammonia gas.2... [Pg.32]

The air oxidation of phenylacetylene and secondary amines in the presence of cupric acetate in benzene solution yields ynamines [22], This reaction requires only catalytic amounts of cupric salts and gives high conversions in less than 30 min when the Cu+2/phenylacetylene ratio is only 0.02. Only 1,4-diphenylbutadiyne is produced if the stoichiometric amount of cupric ion is used in the absence of oxygen. The yield of ynamine can be increased from 45 to 90 % if the stoichiometric amounts of a reducing agent such as hydrazine are continuously added during the course of the reaction. The use of primary amines under similar conditions yields the acetamide derivative. [Pg.322]

A basic copper chlorate is formed when soln. of potassium chlorate acidified with sulphuric acid are electrolyzed with an alternating current between copper electrodes (L. Rossi) 83 when the hydrate is heated above 100° (A. Wachter) when a soln. of copper chlorate be mixed with pieces of marble or urea, and heated in a sealed tube to 130° (L. Bourgeois) when the hydroxides of the alkalies or alkaline earths act on cupric chlorate soln., or copper hydroxide acts on soln. of potassium chlorate (A. Brochet) when hydrated cupric oxide or cupric hydroxide acts on cupric chlorate soln. (P. Sabatier) or when potassium chlorate acts on cupric acetate soln. (A. Casselmann), basic cupric chlorate is obtained. The basic chlorate forms bluish-green monoclinic prisms of sp. gr. 3 55 and composition 4Cu0.C1205.3H20, that is, Cu(C103)2.3Cu(0H)2, which A. Werner considers to be hexahydroxyl cupric chlorate ... [Pg.342]

In the intramolecular photoreduction kinetic scheme, catalytic metallic nuclei are formed in the intramolecular ligand-to-metal electron-transfer process. For example, catalytic metallic Cu nuclei can be formed in the photochemical reaction (A < 3500 A) of cupric acetate (CuA) ... [Pg.150]

Cu(NH3) ++ (aq.). The values given for the heats of formation of these ions, with n=4, 6, 8, and 12, are purely formal, since the actual ion is probably Cu(NH3)4++. The values are obtained from the values for the aqueous ammonia solutions of cupric acetate, cupric chloride, and cupric sulfate. [Pg.288]
