Power reactors are similar to transformers. However, they have only one winding per phase and can be represented as shown in Figure 27.1. Partially platinized titanium impressed current anodes were chosen because contamination of the feed water by anodic decomposition products had to be avoided. Another of the principal functions of a substation is to provide the means to control and regulate voltages and power flow.
