Continuous improvement concept

Relate ergonomics to lean continuous improvement concepts They are a natural match. 

Deming and his colleague, Shewhart, promoted the PDCA cycle—Plan, Do, Check and Act. World class oil, gas and petro-chemical companies approach operational excellence similarly by applying the continuous improvement concept to the ongoing efforts of improving quality of management and achieving superior operational results. 

It has become fashionable to use the term continuous improvement rather than continual improvement. Continuous means without breaks or interruption - such as continuous stationery. Continual means repeated regularly and frequently - a term that fits the concept of improvement rather better and will be used in ISO 9000 2000. 

This chapter first discusses how to set about prioritizing your integration efforts, then how to develop integrated systems and build the concept of continuous improvement into your systems. A section is also provided on the various tools that might be used in the process. Lastly, there is a section on how to approach integration if you are dealing with informal existing systems. This section will not apply to all readers. 

Despite its flexibility, the Army methodology can be described well in terms of referenced scientific estimation methods or correlations and in terms of recently developed paradigms. The Army s Preliminary Pollutant Limit Value (PPLV) concept (1,2,3), a decision tool, is being used and continually improved. 

Science-Based Regulatory Flexibility for Continuous Improvements The concept of continuous improvement has a long history and a well founded structure and format as exemplified by the Evolutionary Operations or EVOP (5) and the Kizen principles. Kizen (Ky zen) is a Japanese word introduced in the West (Hate 70 s) and translated as Continuous Improvement —slow, incremental, but constant. 

To ensure that this team concept is institutionalized and for its continuous improvement, the PAT Team process will be under the FDA s Quality Systems Framework. This should also help in ensuring quality and consistency of reviews, inspections, and other regulatory activities. 

It should be noted that no explicit requirements in modules H, D, and E relate to the concepts of "customer satisfaction" and "continual improvement." As a consequence, noncompliance with requirements of EN ISO 9001 2000, explicity related to these concepts, does not infringe upon the presumption of conformity to the appropriate module. 

The systems approach providers a conceptual framework for organizing knowledge about states of consciousness and a process for continually improving knowledge about the structures/subsystems. The ten subsystems sketched in chapter 8 are crude concepts at this stage of our knowledge and should eventually be replaced with more precise concepts about the exact nature of a larger number of more basic subsystems and about their possibilities for interaction to form systems. 

At present, ab initio simulations have to be performed, therefore, with a modest but sufficient size of the quantum mechanical part of the system, and the basis set as well as the employed quantum mechanical level will always be a compromise between accuracy and computational effort. However, the continuous improvement of computer technology and theoretical concepts are shifting these limits year by year, and an optimistic outlook to the future of simulation work is fully justified, therefore. 

Without that integrity, organic foods will be for nothing in the eyes of the consumer the concept of clear blue water between organic and conventional production must be maintained. Indeed it is clear that the need for the continuous improvement of the organic standards will be an ever-present requirement. 

Static systems, however, are not usually suitable for rate studies. Fessenden (145) was the first to realize this and modified the static system for "intermittent radical production" using pulsed radiolysis. With the advances in electronic digital equipment, Smaller and coworkers (146) have subsequently fully developed the pulse-radiolysis technique for ESR studies and have successfully detected radicals with lifetimes as short as two microseconds. Concurrent developments of such "intermittent radical production" concepts have also been accomplished in photolytic systems by using either a rotating sector technique (147,148) or the flash photolytic technique (6). At present the pulse-radiolysis technique enjoys the advantage of a short and intense pulse at a rapid repetition rate. Only flash photolytic systems using a pulsed laser can approach these desirable conditions. These techniques will no doubt be continuously improved, and their future in ESR study of...
