Collectors cards

A tobacco company in the Canary Islands, Obseqmo De La Fabrica De Cigarillos, published a series of collectors cards of Nobel Prize winners, including chemists, in 1952. Closer to home, the Topps Company printed collectors cards in 1952 of famous people, including Marie Curie that closely resembled the company s wonderful baseball cards. 

Sediment deposition. Horizontal surfaces collect particles primarily by sedimentation deposition, sometimes referred to as fallout . These can provide valuable information relating to exposure for horizontal surfaces in the field such as water and ground. Most studies measuring spray performance within the application area, and/or outside this area by drift, include horizontal collectors. The most common types of such collector include flat papers, cards and plates. Water- and oil-sensitive papers have been widely used for looking at the uniformity of spray coverage, coefficient of variation, droplet densities and approximate droplet size within a spray block. 

Other paper collectors that have been used to assess droplet size and distribution patterns include cards such as Kromekote. This was one of several types of collector that provided information on spray deposition in the held, a-Cellulose samplers are fibrous in nature, and include a vertical component to their aspect. This type of collector, along with Mylar cards and other types of card samplers, are often used to provide information on spray coverage as amount of material per unit surface area. 

Vertical surfaces collect spray primarily by impaction. Plants and other entities with a vertical component will collect some material by impaction, and typically also by deposition, as discussed in the previous section. While horizontal collectors will tend to collect all or most material that falls out on to them, vertical collectors will have collection efficiencies that are more closely related to their physical characteristics, especially collector diameter. The SDTF used a-cellulose cards oriented perpendicular to the ground and strings made of cotton or Teflon in its field studies to assess spray volumes at locations above the ground. Many other researchers have used strings for assessing airborne spray volumes in drift studies. ... 

Pearce, a student at the Divinity School of Duke University. Pratt was the experimenter, and Rhine acted as data collector for all series and coexperimenter on the last. Procedurally, this was a clairvoyance experiment. The experimenter put cards in a designated spot at a designated time without turning them over and looking at them. Thus, there was no one trying to act as a sender. The targets were the well-known Zener cards, a deck of twenty-five cards, five each of five different symbols (a cross, a square, a circle, wavy lines, and a star). 

The Collector method is a relatively recent innovation in U exploration instrumentation (Card and Bell, 1979) even though the principle has been employed in Rn studies for decades. It is based on the collection and detection of the decay products of Rn. When a clean surface, such as a metallic or plastic disc, is exposed to an atmosphere containing Rn, such as a hole in the ground, the decay products of Rn will collect on it if they strike it. The activity of these daughters builds up with a composite half-life of about 35 min. and reaches a maximum in about 3.25 h. Hence any fluctuations in the Rn concentration which are of much shorter duration than 4 h will be... 

The subfile made up of the cross reference cards mentioned urder 9 may be used again in other revisions, so it is advocated to use a good quality of paper or thin cardboard for them. This subfile can became very useful when you add additional notes on the collectors, such as lists of their collecting localities with coordinates and/or maps, identification lists of their specimens, whereabouts of the specimens, etc. Some people do not regard this as a subfile at all but as an very special and important file for this information to be used over and over again. 

Take out all blue ( cited in literature1) and red (type) cards and find out in which Institutes the type specimens are preserved. This can be done by use of the Index Herbariorum, II. Collectors, Flora Malesiana I, 1 (Cyclopaedia of Collectors) and Taxonomic Literature ed. 2.

Vending machines and toU collectors operating on a network may charge different prices based on outdoor temperatures or the availability of parking spaces. A soda may be sold at different prices depending on location or time of day. Other configurations include a standard roller card with a series of workers and clearers to open the fiber, with various arrangements of air distribution, eg overpressure or imder pressure to direct the fibers and lay them on the perforated collector. 

By asserting its continuing claim over the device - demanding back redundant, effectively worthless pieces of plastic and electronics, cut into pieces -the creditor attaches its collections activities to the affordances of the payment card. The creditor draws attention to the device that, more than any other, stands as the material embodiment of the relationship between the creditor and the borrower. By demanding its destruction and return, the creditor hopes that it can both symbolically mark the end of the relationship as it was previously constituted, and prompt the borrower into remedial action. Here, by drawing attention to its materiality - and hence its fragility the collector transforms this plastic borrowing device into a small but potentially potent collections device.
