A typical ozone system consists of 100 g/hr at a concentration of 1.0 percent to 1.5 percent in air fed to the bottom of bleach collection tanks through ceramic spargers (pore size of approximately 100 t). The system contains air compression and drying equipment, automatic control features, and a flat-plate, air-cooled ozone generator. Regeneration of bleach wastes totaling about 10,000 gallons a year, and recovery of other chemicals can also be cost effective. 

A device called an air washer is also used for humidification and dehumidification, It consists of a chamber incorporating a water spray system, a collection tank, and an eliminator section. The eliminator plates are necessary to reduce the incidence of water droplets that are carried out of the plant into the duct run.

Condensate from the low-pressure coil together with that from the flash vessel will then drain to a collecting tank, or direct to a condensate pump, for return to the boiler plant. If the pressure of the flash steam is left to find its own level it will often be sub-atmospheric. As the condensate must then drain by gravity through the steam traps these also must be sufficiently below the condensate drain points to provide an appropriate hydraulic head, and a vacuum breaker fitted above the coil. The alternatives are to allow the condensate to drain directly to a condensate pump, or to supply additional low-pressure steam through a pressure-reducing valve, to maintain a positive pressure in the coil and flash vessel.

The atmospheric condenser is a simplified form of evaporative condenser, having plain tubes over a collecting tank and relying only on natural air draught. This will be located on an open roof or large open space to ensure a good flow of air. The space required is of the order of 0.2 m /kW, and such condensers are not much used because of this large space requirement. Atmospheric condensers can still be seen on the roofs of old breweries. They are in current use where space is plentiful.

In continuously working units cooled hydroxide solution enters at the bottom of the chlorinators which are provided with cooling coils a measured amount of chlorine is simultaneously admitted. The hypochlorite solution leaves the vessels through the overflow, and flows through a stoneware coil, which is externally cooled by water, into a collecting tank with a rubber coated stirrer and a PVC water cooler. The composition of the liquor is here adjusted by the addition of hydroxide or chlorine, and the finished hypochlorite solution is then stored.

Thanks to environmental concerns of industrialized populations and due to the always increasing price of tap water, rainwater collecting tanks become more and more popular to collect free water in order to use it for all domestic uses except drinking water (toilets, showers, washing machines, etc.).
