This discussion of pressure vessels is intended as an overview of the codes most frequently used for the design and construction of pressure vessels. Cnemical engineers who design or specify pressure vessels should determine the federal and local laws relevant to the problem and then refer to the most recent issue of the pertinent code or standard before proceeding. The above analysis is just of theoretical interest and real implementation codes including the ones listed in Section V perform much faster in practice. These codes frequently ignore conservative choices for the above parameters, taking ambitious values, and compute the solution in a much shorter time.
