Coating pigmented

Paper. Paper is the principal apphcation for talc throughout the world. It is used as a filler, a coating pigment, and a process aid in pulping and de-inking for pitch and stickies control. As a paper filler, talc is used because of its platiness, softness, whiteness, abiUty to space Ti02, and ink receptivity. 

Functional polyethylene waxes provide both the physical properties obtained by the high molecular weight polyethylene wax and the chemical properties of an oxidised product, or one derived from a fatty alcohol or acid. The functional groups improve adhesion to polar substrates, compatibHity with polar materials, and dispersibHity into water. Uses include additives for inks and coatings, pigment dispersions, plastics, cosmetics, toners, and adhesives. 

Preparation of Coated Pigments. A slurry of 50 g of titanium dioxide in 100 mL of distilled water with sufficient metal salt to provide the desired coating concentration was stirred on a steam bath to constant weight. The pigment was then ground in a mortar and dried in air at 100°C for 96 hr. 

The test marker strain (T) developed by Russell uses seven recessive loci a (nonagouti), b (brown), cch (chinchilla), d (dilute), p (pink-eyed dilution), 5 (piebald) and se (short-ear). As for the mouse spot test, these genes control coat pigmentation, intensity or pattern, and, for the se gene, the size of the external ear. 

Diluents, mainly volatile aliphatic or aromatic hydrocarbons such as petroleum ether, dodecylbenzene or glycols, are often added to PVC pastes to lower the viscosity. These do not have a gelling effect and are evaporated off before gelation is commenced to prevent fine cracks or bubbles in the coating. Pigments for this application are required to have adequate resistance to the solvents used at the processing temperatures. 

The specific demands of the printing industry often require surface-coated pigments with resins or other substances.

Cadmium is widely used in industry for metal coating, pigments and paints, batteries, and in solder alloys. Its principal use is in the production of nickel-cadmium batteries required for portable electronic and electrical equipments. BPs are used not only in specialized cosmetic preparations for skin protection against the carcinogenic effect of UV radiation they are also added to pharmaceuticals and many everyday products such as body lotions, shampoos, bubble baths, and hair sprays. These compounds are used for the packaging of synthetic materials in order to extend the shelf life of stored products that could be affected by the influence of sunlight. Other application areas are tire additives, castings, coatings, pigments, textiles, and other products, to increase their resistance to UV radiation [49,64,73,74].
