Powder coatings pigments

The energy required to initiate an explosion and the maximum explosive pressure developed by a number of polyester—epoxy powder coatings has been studied in some detail (89). The variables studied included composition, level and type of pigmentation, particle size, and concentration in air. The lowest MEG for unfilled and unpigmented powders was 33—35 g/m. ... [Pg.326]

Several benzimidazolone pigments are suitable candidates for use in powder coatings based on polyester, acrylic, or polyurethane resin. These pigments satisfy the heat requirements of this application and do not plate out in these media (Sec. 1.6.4.1). Various benzimidazolone pigments even meet the particularly high thermal standards of coil coating. These pigments are also suitable for use in architectural and emulsion paints. [Pg.350]

In practical application, most types of P.B.15 1 are completely fast to overcoating in oven drying systems. The pigments are suitable candidates for powder coatings, for instance for acrylate or polyurethane-based systems, in which they do not exhibit plate-out (Sec. 1.6.4.1). [Pg.443]

P.Gr.7 is used in all types of paints, including high grade original automotive finishes. Paints containing P.Gr.7 are completely suitable for exterior application. Incorporated in powder coatings, the pigment performs better than (3-Copper Phthalocyanine Blue. Plate-out is not observed (Sec. 1.6.4.1). [Pg.450]

Moreover, y-P.V.19 is also found in a variety of other media, such as powder coatings and cast resins. This includes systems based on unsaturated polyester resins whose hardening is not affected by the pigment. The list of application media includes plastics which are processed at very high temperature (such as polycarbonates), in which the pigment is thermally stable up to 320°C. PUR foams and... [Pg.466]

Plate-out is observed with various hardeners if P.V.23 is incorporated in most types of powder coatings, for instance in epoxy systems. This phenomenon, however, is of no consequence for the applicability of the pigment only minor amounts of P.V.23 are required in these media to lend a blue shade to white enamels. [Pg.534]

A powder coating is the result of the application of a powder binder system, which generally consists of a resin, a crosslinker, flow additives, degassing agents, pigments or dyes, charge control agents, etc. Such a binder system is ap-pHed to the substrate as a fine, extruded powder (Fig. 20, step A), then melted at... [Pg.63]

Because the binder systems are solid at room temperature, they can be produced by the existing methods used for powder coatings.32 Solid resins, pigments, photoinitiators and other additives are premixed, then melted and dispersed in an extruder... [Pg.143]

Bismuth vanadate pigments are used in the manufacture of lead-free, weather resistant, brilliant yellow colors for automobile finishes and industrial paints. They are suitable for the pigmentation of solvent-containing paints, water-based paints, powder coatings, and coil-coating systems. It can be mixed with other pigments... [Pg.115]

Paints. Ultramarine pigments are used in decorative paints, stoving finishes, transparent lacquers, industrial paints, and powder coatings. They are not recommended for colored, air-drying paints for outdoor use in urban atmospheres. [Pg.130]
