Figure Bl.19.36. Image of the frictional force distribution of a pattern consisting of areas of CH -tenuinated and areas of COOH-tenninated molecules attached to gold-coated silicon. The tip was also fiinctionalized in (a) with CH3 species and in (b) with COOH species. The bright regions correspond to the higher friction force, which in (a) is observed on the CH areas and in (b) on the COOH areas. (Taken from [187], figure 3.)... Figure Bl.19.36. Rutherford backscattering spectrometry is the measurement of the energies of ions scattered back from the surface and the outer microns (1 micron = 1 pm) of a sample. Typically, helium ions with energies around 2 MeV are used and the sample is a metal coated silicon wafer that has been ion implanted with about a... [Pg.1827]

Intermediate alloy compositions include a zinc-15%-aluminium alloy for metal spraying (higher aluminium contents are unsuitable for spraying wire) and a zinc-30%-aluminium-0.2%-magnesium-0.2%-silicon coating (Lavegal) for sheet. [Pg.497]

The new continuous casting processes, in contrast to ingot cast products, provide tin mill products which are exceptionally clean and formable. The deoxidizing processes required for continuous casting involve either aluminum or silicon killing, which adds aluminum or silicon to the steel. Experience with type D steels indicates that the added aluminum will not cause a corrosion problem. Laubscher and Weyandt (18) have shown that the silicon found in silicon killed, continuous cast, heavily coated ETP will not adversely affect the corrosion performance of plain cans packed with mildly acid food products in which tin usually protects steel. The data on enameled cans is not definitive. Additional published data are required to determine whether or not silicon actually reduces the performance of enameled cans made from enameled, heavily coated, silicon killed, continuous cast ETP. [Pg.11]

The European baking paper market is composed of around 95% greaseproof paper, of which around half is rmcoated, 10% is chromium stearate-coated, and the remainder is silicone-coated. [Pg.11]

Of the silicone-coated baking paper, only around 1.5% is related to silicones catalysed with organotin compormds. [Pg.11]

The associated baking paper is supplied by two companies, which use dioctyltin-based stabilizers exclusively. Thus, dioctyltin-catalysed silicone-coated... [Pg.11]

On the other hand, Xiao et al. [215] reported that smooth, dense, and erystalline PbTe films with nearly stoichiometric composition could be obtained by an optimized electrodeposition process from highly acidic (pH 0) tellurite solutions of uncomplexed Pb(II), on Au-coated silicon wafers. The results from electroanalyti-cal studies on Te, Pb, and PbTe deposition with a Pt rde at various temperatures and solution compositions supported the induced co-deposition scheme. The microstructure and preferred orientation of PbTe films was found to change significantly with the deposition potential and electrolyte concentration. At -0.12 V vs. Ag/AgCl(sat. KCl), the film was granular and oriented preferentially in the [100] direction. At potentials more negative than -0.15 V, the film was dendritic and oriented preferentially in the [211] direction (Pig. 3.13). [Pg.127]

GL 1] [R4] [P 2] The stability of vapor-deposited protection coatings made from nickel depends on the process conditions, particularly on the concentrations of toluene and fluorine [14]. Nickel-coated silicon micro reactors were operated for several hours for the reaction conditions given. The nickel films lose to a certain extent their adhesion to the reaction channel with ongoing processing. [Pg.607]

The LB film depositions were performed using a Joyce-Loebl Langmuir Trough IV equipped with a microbalance for measurement of the surface pressure by the Wilhelmy plate method. Filtered deionized water with a pH of 7 was used for the subphase. For the electron beam lithography study, PMMA was spread on the water surface from a dilute benzene solution ( 10 mg PMMA in 20 ml benzene). The novolac/PAC mixtures were spread from solutions ( 20 mg solids in 10 ml solvent) of isopropyl acetate. For the fluorescence studies, the PMMA/PDA mixture was spread on fee water surface from a dilute benzene solution (1.75 mg PDA and 8.33 mg PMMA in 20 ml benzene). Prior to compression, a 20 min interval was allowed for solvent evaporation. The Langmuir film was compressed to the desired transfer pressure at a rate of 50 cm2/min, followed by a 20 minute equilibration period. The Cr-coated silicon wafers and quartz wafers were immersed into fee subphase before... [Pg.351]
