Proteins. A chiral stationary phase with immobilized a -acid glycoprotein on silica beads was introduced by Hermansson in 1983 [18, 19]. No studies have been conducted with silver and avian or mammalian wildlife, and it is unreasonable to extrapolate the results of limited testing with domestic poultry and livestock to wildlife to establish criteria or administratively enforced standards. Avidin was first isolated from chicken egg white by Esmond Emerson Snell (1914-2003). This tetrameric protein contains four identical subunits (homotetramer) each of which can bind to biotin (Vitamin B7, vitamin H) with a high degree of affinity and specificity. When these two molecules are in the same solution, they will bind with such high affinity that the binding is essentially irreversible. Monascus colorants have been consumed for hundreds of years and are believed to be safe for human consumption. Tests with a series of microorganisms have demonstrated no mutagenicity.
