Cheng cycle

In a recent study, the antiproliferative effect of different carotenoids, including (3-carotene, lycopene and lutein, on PCNA and cyclin Dl expression in human KB cells have been studied. The results indicate that carotenoids suppressed cell growth by acting as inhibitors of the expressions of PCNA and cyclin Dl, although in a different extent (Cheng et al., 2007). On the other hand, (3-carotene was able to induce a cell cycle delay in G2/M phase by decreasing the expression of cyclin A in human colon adenocarcinoma cells (Palozza et al., 2002a). 

Cheng et al. carried out the impedance study on a foam-type NiMH battery with nonwoven PP separator to determine the main causes of early cycle deterioration. Their data indicated that the decrease in the voltage characteristic of the battery was due to drying out of the separator that increases the ohmic resistance of the battery and that decay of the total discharge capacity is due to an inactive surface that increases the charge-transfer of the battery.

In 1977, Cheng et al. [7] first time proposed the mechanism of the homogeneous WGS reaction for Rh catalysts in acetic acid/HI solution. Then Zudin et al. [8] reported the Pd complexes in trifluoroacetic acid. Baker et al. [10] described kinetic and mechanistic investigations that suggest the catalytic cycle. 

The mechanism proposed was confirmed by the work of Cariati et al. [43]. In addition to their studies on rhodium WGSR catalysis in acid media, Cheng and Eisenberg have also reported [27] that mixtures of platinum chloride and tin chloride are active WGSR catalysts in an acetic acid/HCl solvent system. They proposed the following mechanism (Scheme 7.2). The catalytic cycle appears to involve the Sn(ll)/Sn(IV) redox couple. The formation of H2 coincides with the oxidation of Sn(ll) to Sn(IV) and CO is oxidized to CO2 concurrent with reduction of Sn(IV) to Sn(II).

In contrast Heaton et al. observed no significant compound loss following 25 freeze-thaw cycles at 2mM in Additionally Cheng et al. 

In the study by Cheng et al. there was no apparent difference between the freeze-thaw results and results from added dissolution, such as the agitation and the repeated aspiration/dispensing methods.
