Chemical reaction reactivity

Here va and va are the stoichiometric coefficients for the reaction. The formulation is easily extended to treat a set of coupled chemical reactions. Reactive MPC dynamics again consists of free streaming and collisions, which take place at discrete times x. We partition the system into cells in order to carry out the reactive multiparticle collisions. The partition of the multicomponent system into collision cells is shown schematically in Fig. 7. In each cell, independently of the other cells, reactive and nonreactive collisions occur at times x. The nonreactive collisions can be carried out as described earlier for multi-component systems. The reactive collisions occur by birth-death stochastic rules. Such rules can be constructed to conserve mass, momentum, and energy. This is especially useful for coupling reactions to fluid flow. The reactive collision model can also be applied to far-from-equilibrium situations, where certain species are held fixed by constraints. In this case conservation laws... [Pg.109]

Dye Fixation. On the dried fabric, the dye is only deposited on the fiber surface. It must penetrate into the fiber during a fixation step and be incorporated in the fiber by chemical reaction (reactive dyes), aggregation (vat, sulfur dyes), ion-pair formation (acid, cationic dyes), or in the form of a solid solution (disperse dyes). [Pg.344]

The desired compatibilization can be obtained by different methods such as the addition of a third component (copolymer or functional polymer) or by inducing in situ chemical reactions (reactive blending) among blend components, leading to the modification of the polymer interfaces and tailoring the blend phase structure and the final properties. The final properties of a blend will be determined not only by the components properties but also by the phase morphology and the interface adhesion, both of which determine the stress transfer within the blend and its end-use applications. [Pg.509]

The distinction between precipitation and crystaUization is not always clear. For purposes of this discussion, precipitation is the formation of a solid phase from solution by chemical reaction. Reactive crystaUization applies to cases in which the solid is crystalline and not amorphous. [Pg.819]

The key to solve problems of coarse morphology is to reduce interfacial tension in the melt and to enhance adhesion between the immiscible phases in the solid state. One solution is to select the most suitable blending technique so that co-continuous phase morphology can be obtained, which results in direct load sharing. The second solution is the addition of a third homopolymer or block or graft copolymer or low molecular reactive compounds, which is miscible with either of the two phases. This can be considered as non-reactive compatibilization. The third way is to blend suitably functionalized polymers, which are capable for specific interactions or chemical reactions (reactive compatibilization) [35],... [Pg.21]
