Dainty, E. E. and Lobay, G. 1991. An Investigation of Flame Arrester Continuous Burn Test Protocols. Tech. Rept. MRL-91-136, Canada Center for Mineral and Energy Technology (CANMET), Ottawa, Ontario (December 1991). [Pg.193]

The effect of different amine collectors has been examined on Niobec ore from Canada through development testwork [5], Table 22.4 shows the results from the laboratory continuous locked-cycle tests conducted using different amine collectors manufactured by Akzo Nobel, USA, Canada - Clariant, Germany. [Pg.116]

Based upon discussions conducted directly between the U.S. and the EEC (as well as bilateral talks involving Canada and, possibly, Japan), some "harmonization" may be reached concerning "base set" testing of new substances and fundamental criteria for evaluating PMN s. These will not, however, be reflected in any major treaties or conventions, or through discussions within the OECD. Rather, TSCA and the Sixth Amendment will continue to develop in parallel, and the U.S. and the EEC may reach accord on some very basic regulatory matters. [Pg.59]

Internal QC monitors the laboratory s current performance versus the standards and criteria that have been set, normally at the time of method development or validation. To ensure that quality data are continuously produced during all analyses and to allow eventual review, systematic checks are performed to show that the test results remain reproducible. Such checks also show if the analytical method is measuring the quantity of target analytes in each sample within acceptable limits for bias (Environment Canada, 2002 IUPAC, 1995 CAEAL, 1999). [Pg.130]

This test has been criticized because it does not simulate actual building fire conditions [5,6], An additional problem with foamed samples is that the specimens either retract out of the reach of the flame or drip on to the floor of the tunnel. In Canada this has been addressed by using a downward-facing burner and mounting the specimens on the floor of the tunnel. Despite its limitations, the Steiner Tunnel method continues to be used to test and rate thermoplastic foams. [Pg.687]

Because of the continuous presence of seismic background noise, only explosions whose yield exceeds a certain value are detected. This detectability limit varies with the distance from the explosion point and increases with the amplitude of the background noise. In the case of the Pacific Test Centre, the station at Rarotonga (Cook Islands), located at approximately 2000 km on a direct uninterrupted line from Mururoa, receives the T waves emitted by weak explosions and thus has a detectability close to one kiloton. The other stations are much further away and, apart from a few particularly sensitive stations such as the Yellowknife network in Canada, they have a much higher detectability limit. [Pg.650]

EPA will continue to coordinate with other environmental protection agencies (e.g.. Environment Canada and the State of New York) in order to obtain the CDD/CDF test data that are currently being collected. It is expected that data for several municipal incinerator tests will be released by New York State later in 1986. [Pg.48]

Other biological warfare work continued in Canada. In 1941 a former Superintendent of Porton together with three scientists travelled to Canada to advise on the setting up of a joint gas and germ weapons testing area. The site chosen was at Suffield in Alberta - a... [Pg.56]

Duration of NAC treatment. The current widely used US protocol for treatment of acetaminophen poisoning calls for 17 doses of oral NAC given over approximately 72 hours. However, successful protocols in Canada, the United Kingdom, and Europe utilize intravenous NAC for only 20 hours. We give NAC orally until 36 hours have passed since the time of ingestion. Then, if the semm acetaminophen level Is below the limits of detection and liver transaminase levels are normal, NAC can be stopped. If there Is evidence of hepatic toxicity, then NAC should be continued until liver function tests are improving. [Pg.68]

The use of the term EC and IC should be clarified. Environment Canada advocated that inhibitory concentration should be used for any toxicological test that measures a change in the rate in a continuous response. The term effective concentration should be limited to other toxicity tests in which quantal measurements are taken . Quantal in this context means that at a given exposure concentration a certain percentage of the test organism will show an effect whilst the remaining percentage will not show the effect. [Pg.276]

Many chelators have been tested to find one that can be taken orally. Deferiprone has been used with positive effect in more than 50 countries since 1987, but it is not licensed in the U.S. and Canada. Combined use of desferrioxamine and deferiprone increases survival and reduces the incidence of cardiac disease. An orally administered chelator called deferasirox was approved by the U.S. in 2005. The continued search for chelators indicates that no current treatment is fully effective. Eventually, bone marrow transplants or gene therapy might cure the disease. [Pg.278]

C4 Methods for Hydrostatic Testing of Compressed Gas Cylinders. U.S. DOT and Transport Canada regulations require certain cylinders to be periodically retested to requalify them for continued service. This standard contains operating and equipment requirements to properly perform these tests (29 pages). [Pg.668]

Chapter 9 covers specific essential information for anyone who has day-to-day involvement with compressed gas cylinders. The topics of marking, labeling, inspection, testing, filling, and disposition all contribute to ensuring the continued safety of the many millions of compressed gas cylinders currently in use. In the United States and Canada, there are approximately one-half as many compressed gas cylinders of various types as there are people. [Pg.94]

The process was tested on a pilot plant scale in Canada. Severe mechanical and corrosion problems were encountered in the operation of the pilot plant and hindered the continuing development of the process to such extent that it was never commercialized. [Pg.842]
