Binding chemistry

Another factor that remarkably affects the enantioresolution of given enantiomeric pairs has been shown to be the binding chemistry used for the silica immobilization of glycopeptides (see Section 2.2). This was illustrated in the case of ristocetin A, which was covalently bonded to silica microparticles by immobilization onto epoxy-activated silica under mild conditions [22], and compared with the corresponding commercially available CSP, where the macrocycle was immobilized as previously reported for vancomycin, rifamycin B, thiostrepton [7], and teicoplanin [30]. The comparison proved that immobilization of ristocetin A onto epoxy-activated silica could significantly improve the enantioselectivity and the resolution of the corresponding CSP in the separation of a-amino acids under RP conditions [22]. [Pg.138]

Although most polymerases conform to the general kinetic scheme, some polymerases have different mechanisms with regard to p/t binding and selection. Other aspects in the polymerase cycle such as dNTP binding, chemistry, and the conformational change will be discussed in later sections. [Pg.408]

Calixarenes and their derivatives (Scheme 9.3) are among the most widely used scaffolds in anion-binding chemistry. Strategies for their functionalization have been reviewed recently [36,37]. The popularity of calixarenes reflects to a large extent the ease with which the cores themselves can be modified as well as the fact that they... [Pg.321]

DDQ to afford the fully aromatic macrocycle 4.197. Both of these macrocycles, namely 4.196 and 4.197, are anticipated to display rich metalation and anion binding chemistry. However, to date, little insight into these potential applications or, indeed other aspects of these systems has been forthcoming. [Pg.244]

Due to the extensive 02-binding chemistry of cobalt,[3] we chose the latter as the metal for our initial studies. However, while the available precedent consists largely of reactions of... [Pg.1081]

The PCR template can either be prepared plasmid DNA or bacterial cell lysates. The primers can be standard oligonucleotides or 5-amine modified, depending on what slide binding chemistry is adopted (see Subheading 5.1.2.). [Pg.102]

This demonstrates that k st/Ku reflects all steps from substrate binding up to and including the first irreversible step - whether this step is chemistry (Eq. (10.5)) or product release (Eq. (10.4)). When one of these steps is slow (e.g. substrate binding, chemistry, or product release), it is rate-limiting on kat/Ku- We emphasize that the chemical step can be experimentally probed, e.g. by isotope effects, through measurements of the macroscopic rate constant k t/Km, despite suggestions to the contrary [3], In summary, k at and kcat/Ku have some microscopic steps in common, the details of which depend upon the particular enzyme mechanism. Careful study of each macroscopic rate constant can reveal which microscopic step or steps are rate-limiting under specific conditions. [Pg.1243]

Once the selector is identified, the binding chemistry on the base resin has to be optimized and the whole adsorbent scaled-up. Finally, the large-scale production under controlled conditions and the registration of the final adsorbent have to be ensured. [Pg.63]

Antibiotics have been introduced as natural chiral selectors in a variety of commercially available chiral stationary phases (Armstrong et al., 1994). Initially, they have been critically reviewed due to the fact that they are potent dmg molecules, which are introduced as part of the production process of other pharmaceutical compounds and leaching of the antibiotic selector might occur. The manufacturers of the chiral phases have reacted by optimizing the binding chemistry in the phases. [Pg.91]

At least two other chemotypes, tetrahydroquinolines (Fig. 25.1.5, 25 [87-88]) and amidoketones (Fig. 25.1.5, 26 [89, 90] also reviewed in Ref. [6]) have been shown to directly (ligand binding assays) or indirectly (cell based reporter gene transactivation assays) interact with the ecdysone receptor. These new ecdysone receptor binding chemistries could lead to new products for control of insect pests not controlled by current BAH insecticides. [Pg.792]

The chapter by Krull et al (59) use membranes in vesicle form ("membrane bags"). Fluorophore-labeled receptors are incorporated into the vesicles which, drawing upon known receptor binding chemistry, exhibit alterations in fluorescence intensity in the presence of the agonist carbamylchollne. This project aims at incorporating this scheme into membranes on the surfaces of optical fibers. [Pg.23]

Amines and nitriles facilitate the complexation of metals such as Fe, Ti, W, and Ru. In this work, functionalized phenols are attached to the ring, followed by metal complexation. Titanium complexes (36) and (37) are examples. Similar binding chemistry employing Mn is accomplished through a phenyl phosphine moiety in place of the nitrile. Metals also can add to unsaturated bonds yielding new complexes. For example, a... [Pg.333]
