BIDS system

HPLC companies tend to sell Type II systems when a Type I will do, a Type III system when a Type II would be sufficient for the job. I ve tried to estimate a range of prices for which I last sold these systems (1993). Precise system prices are difficult to obtain from the manufacturers unless you are on GSA pricing or a bid system. Inflation will drive these prices up the very real competition in this field tends to hold prices down. Let s look at each type of system in turn. 

The bulk of hydrauhc fluids is specified and purchased on bid. Specifications and approval fists are issued by some manufacturers of hydraulic pumps and system components that require lubrication as well as power for control signal transmission. The intent of this standard is to eover the normal requirements of the majority of applieations, reeognizing that eeonomie trade-offs and reliability implieations may differ in some applieations. The user may desire to add, delete, or modify the requirements in this standard to meet his speeifie needs, and he has the option of doing so in his own bid speeifiea-tion. The gas turbine eontrol system shall inelude sequeneing, eontrol, proteetion, and operator information, whieh shall provide for orderly and safe start-up of gas turbine, eontrol of proper loading, and an orderly shutdown proeedure. It shall inelude an emergeney shutdown eapability, whieh ean be operated automatieally by suitable failure deteetors or whieh ean be operated manually. Coordination between gas turbine eontrol and driven equipment must be provided for startup, operation, and shutdown. 

An example would be where the consultant had already invited competitive quotations for supplying air-handling units so that he could design a particular make into the system and ensure that his client received the best value for money. The bidder would include in his bid, either separately shown or in the body of his figures, a sum to cover profit and on-cost in handling the equipment. The contractor appointed would be responsible for organizing delivery and would give a warranty on the equipment, in accordance with the contract. This aspect is amplified in Section 8.20. 

On important contracts, it may be advisable to invite bidders to pick up the bid documents, or they could be delivered to them. Documents do go astray in the postal system. 

As noted in the patent for this system, pulsatile systems are expected to have numerous applications in drug delivery, including site-specific delivery in the GI tract and bid (twice-a-day) dosing of two pulsatile systems that simulates qid (four times a day) dosing of immediately available products. The latter concept is expected to have a particular advantage for those drugs that have high first-pass metabolism.
