Assist suit

Recently, many studies on assist robots have been condncted in which the development of a uniqne system is reqnired to snpport aged persons, physically handicapped persons and/or carers (Toyama and Yonetake, 2007). One of the representative systems is called the assist suit and is partially developed. The assist suit is a mechatronics device which can assist physical human actions. However, the current assist suit has a few problems with respect to cost, size, weight, longevity and so on. [Pg.101]

Expertise—A client may seek to issue a toll contract if it chooses to produce a new product of unfamiliar chemistiy or formulation type. A toller may already have knowledge, equipment, and personnel uniquely suited for a given process that cannot be readily duplicated. A toller with expertise in that particular type of chemistiy or formulation could speed production and assist them in building a higher level of in-house expertise through close interaction. This may enhance the level of process safety and personnel safety should the client ever bring the process in-house. [Pg.6]

Ionic liquids have been described as designer solvents [11]. Properties such as solubility, density, refractive index, and viscosity can be adjusted to suit requirements simply by making changes to the structure of either the anion, or the cation, or both [12, 13]. This degree of control can be of substantial benefit when carrying out solvent extractions or product separations, as the relative solubilities of the ionic and extraction phases can be adjusted to assist with the separation [14]. Also, separation of the products can be achieved by other means such as, distillation (usually under vacuum), steam distillation, and supercritical fluid extraction (CO2). [Pg.174]

The flow and return connections will be designed to suit the flow rates and temperature differentials required. The water-return connection will be fitted with either an internal diffuser or a venturi nozzle to assist mixing of the water circulating within the shell and prevent water stratification. The flow connection will incorporate the... [Pg.351]

There are two basic types of watertube boilers assisted and natural circulation. Assisted circulation might apply where heat is from convection rather than a radiation source such as a waste heat application. Natural circulation is more suited where radiant heat and high gas temperatures are present. [Pg.353]

The Ag-silica-alumina material is furthermore suited to assist in sterically hindered aromatic brominations. As an example we converted 1,3,5-tri-t-butylbenzene into 2,4,6-tri-t-butylbromobenzene. When using an acidic zeolite and Br2 de-alkylation prevails and 3,5-di-t-butylbromobenzene is formed (ref. 29). [Pg.213]

Competitive reduction of Au(III) and Ag(I) ions occurs simultaneously in solution during exposure to neem leaf extract leads to the preparation of bimetallic Au-core/Ag-shell nanoparticles in solution. TEM revealed that the silver nanoparticles are adsorbed onto the gold nanoparticles, forming a core/sheU structure. Panigrahi et al. [121] reported that sugar-assisted stable Au-core/Ag-shell nanoparticles with particles size of ca. 10 nm were prepared by a wet chemical method. Fructose was found to be the best suited sugar for the preparation of smallest particles. [Pg.54]

For practical purposes, it is most suited to combine the analyst s practice with computer assistance, in this context the PRISMA model being very efficient. [Pg.95]

Therefore the lattice-gas model has proved most useful for the study of those processes in which the ionic double layer plays a major role, and there are quite a few. So it has been used to investigate the interfacial capacity, electron and ion-transfer reactions, and even such complex processes as ion pairing and assisted ion transfer. Because of its simplicity we carmot expect this model to give quantitative results for particular systems, but it is ideally suited to qualitative investigations such as the prediction of trends and orders of magnitude for various effects. [Pg.165]

The ionspray (ISP, or pneumatically assisted electrospray) LC-MS interface offers all the benefits of electrospray ionisation with the additional advantages of accommodating a wide liquid flow range (up to 1 rnl.rnin ) and improved ion current stability [536]. In most LC-MS applications, one aims at introducing the highest possible flow-rate to the interface. While early ESI interfaces show best performance at 5-l() iLrnin, ion-spray interfaces are optimised for flow-rates between 50 and 200 xLmin 1. A gradient capillary HPLC system (320 xm i.d., 3-5 xLmin 1) is ideally suited for direct coupling to an electrospray mass spectrometer [537]. In sample-limited cases, nano-ISP interfaces are applied which can efficiently be operated at sub-p,Lmin 1 flow-rates [538,539]. These flow-rates are directly compatible with micro- and capillary HPLC systems, and with other separation techniques (CE, CEC). [Pg.505]

Computers are well suited to the manipulation of numbers, but the ES relies on symbolic computation, in which symbols stand for properties, concepts, and relationships. The degree to which an ES can manage a task may depend on the complexity of the problem. For example, computer vision is an area of great interest within AI and many programs exist that can, without human assistance, use the output from a digital camera to extract information, such as the characters on a car number plate. However, automatic analysis of more complex images, such as a sample of soil viewed through a microscope, is far... [Pg.231]

Microwave-assisted reactions allow rapid product generation in high yield under uniform conditions. Therefore, they should be ideally suited for parallel synthesis applications. The first example of parallel reactions carried out under microwave irradiation conditions involved the nucleophilic substitution of an alkyl iodide with 60 diverse piperidine or piperazine derivatives (Scheme 4.22) [76]. Reactions were carried out in a multimode microwave reactor in individual sealed polypropylene vials using acetonitrile as solvent. Screening of the resulting 2-aminothiazole library in a herpes simplex virus-1 (HSV-1) assay led to three confirmed hits, demonstrating the potential of this method for rapid lead optimization. [Pg.74]

Strength ACEMS supported three separate decon sites with medical monitoring. Due to overwhelming number of calls for assistance being received from Graniteville area, decision was made to enter with Level-B suits by Haz-Mat technician-level EMS personnel. Decision to not transport patients prior to decontamination was made by ACEMS Shift Supervisor. [Pg.17]

This simulation and other computational studies were carried out with the Polymorph Predictor and Crystal Packer modules in the Cerius2 suite of programs from Molecular Simulations. We thank MSI (Cambridge and San Diego) for their continuing cooperation and assistance. [Pg.306]

Although short of sleep, the other team physicians were willing to make this final effort. Around midnight, I called General Stone at his home, told him what we intended to do and requested some clerical and artwork assistance. He hastened to call in two secretaries and four graphic arts specialists and provided us a suite of offices to work in. [Pg.149]

The product was identihed by a number of spectroscopic methods. Dioxygen uptake was measured by spectrophotometric titration. MALDI-TOF-MS (matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization-time of flight-mass spectrometry), an MS method particularly suited to determining molecular masses of biopolymers and synthetic materials with relative masses up to several hundred kilodaltons, determined that the product contained stoichiometric amounts of the heme starting material, the copper complex, and dioxygen in a 1 1 1 ratio. [Pg.441]
